I was pleasantly surprised with how my foot felt last night and this morning after a couple mile easy running yesterday. Maybe I'm starting to heal again. I sure hope so. My FIRST training for today called for a 13 mile long run. I decided about 8 minutes on the Arc Trainer for every mile would be about right, so I hopped on set it on the hill interval setting and did it for 1 hour 44 minutes. That is a long time on that silly machine. I think I will definitely feel it tomorrow. I tried to keep my effort level where I would normally be on a long slow run, so I was never breathing hard, but by the end my legs sure were tired. Hopefully the foot feels good tomorrow and I can get in a couple more easy running miles.

That seems absolutely insane!!! 104 minutes on the arc trainer!!! YOU ARE WAY TOO DIEHARD!!!!

So happy about the lack of pain!!!

June is the month baby!! :)

That's great news, Rhett!!! Wow, 104 minutes on the arc!!!

From Rhett on Thu, Jun 04, 2009 at 12:29:10 from 170.215.58.122

Yeah Teena, some call me "diehard", my wife calls me crazy.

Thanks Dale. I hope I don't create some new injury with all the arc training.

Good workout. It takes some effort to keep up the turnover on the arc trainer.

GOOD NEWS about the no foot pain!!! YAY, HEAL! baby HEAL!

Why are you doing your "slow long run" today? Man alive...104 minutes on an arc trainer sounds like torture. OUTSTANDING effort!!! WAY to simulate a long run. Be sure to stretch/massage...the leg tiredness are well earned. Doone is right, you're crazy...in a good way!

I think we have all been called crazy at one point or another in our training by none runners but when you are called crazy by runners you know you have arrived at crazy town! 104 minutes on anything takes dedication!

Rhett, unrelated, but when you do mile repeats, how long and at what pace do you do the recoveries at?

From Rhett on Thu, Jun 04, 2009 at 16:38:18 from 170.215.58.122

Smooth, I had to do my simulated long run today since the gym doesn't open until 6 on Saturday but 4 during the week and I don't have my own arc trainer. Sat I'll do my simulated tempo run and still be home by a little after 7.

Paul, I assume you mean my real mile repeats. I work up to 6, 1 mile repeats at 6 min pace with a 3 minute recovery walk/jogging. At the beginning of the training cylce I start with 3 of them as close to 6:00 as possible.

Wow Rhett!!! Your keep your fitness up there it sounds like for sure. I have never used a arc machine before so not sure how it compares. But time wise that is a good long run for you. At least what 14-15 miles. Great job.

From RivertonPaul on Thu, Jun 04, 2009 at 17:22:40 from 67.42.27.114

Thanks Rhett. I guess I need to work up to that, but with good recovery.

Hey Rhett,

Have you got your new Runners World? Did you see the training schedule in it? Tell me what you think? I'm thinking that might be the way to go for me. The long runs really don't get long for several more weeks. Plus, it talks about cross training instead of easy runs if needs be. If you get a chance will you look at it for me and give me your two cents?

How is your foot today! Still can't believe you did the Arc Trainer for that stinkin' long!!! INSANE I SAY!!!

From Rhett on Fri, Jun 05, 2009 at 12:54:23 from 170.215.58.122

Teena, I did get my new RW, but I haven't looked at it yet. I'll take a look at it when I get home and get back to you. I'm heading to Vegas to go to the temple right after work today so I won't get home till around Midnight, so I probably won't get to read it till tomorrow.

My foot felt sore last night, but good enough this morning that I ran a few miles after warming up with other cross training. I better go blog my run.
