I wanted to get in a good hard tempo run.

Treadmill @ 1% incline

1 mile warm up 8:00

7 miles at 1/2 marathon pace 6:27 (9.3) 45:09 total time

0.25 mile cool down

I failed to embrace the pain like I am working on and mile 6 I decreased the incline to 0.5 then mile 7 to 0.0. I was a bit dissapointed in myself that I gave in and lessened the intensity by lessening the incline on the last two miles, but overall I am happy with the run.

The more I read your workouts, the more I am convinced that you are crazy fast!!

"embrace the pain" -- I like that ... can I borrow that mantra?

From rhett on Tue, Jan 06, 2009 at 01:20:07

Teena, I think you are wicked fast as well and your posts help inspire me to work harder. You can use anything off my posts that may help you.

From Teena on Tue, Jan 06, 2009 at 01:22:58

I am definitely not wicked fast ... perhaps wicked, but not fast!!

Thanks for the permission in writing ... would hate to be slapped with a copyright infringement lawsuit!

embrace the pain my friend!

I have to say that you all inspire me to run better. Look how I was only a few months ago. Day after day of running the same slow speed. Now I'm doing speed work and I've seen huge improvements.

That "Embrace the pain" reminds me of a Depeche Mode song "Enjoy the Silence". Great workout Rhett! You look like your ready to really kick it in at Painter's. Painter's pretty hilly (up and down) so don't worry about your so called "wimping out" on the treadmill, real life racing will be a lot different.

Hey Rhett you are not allowed to show any weakness at all! Remember you are my mind game guru!

Just kidding I was just reading how you really have to practice your mind games just like you practice your running. We all have bad runs and today you had a bad mind game day. I am sure you will learn from it and move on!

From Smooth on Tue, Jan 06, 2009 at 15:48:22

Rhett!!!

I finally discover you're HUMAN! Yeah like Kathie said, you had a bad mind game day. I think I'm gonna play with my TM's incline and see if I get disappointed or fall off the darn thing. How about this for a new mantra: "Laugh off the pain!"
