I did some core work and then got on the Gauntlet. It is a stair machine where there are stairs that go around like a TM. I did it for 20 mins. That was plenty. Then I did 10 mins on the elliptical to cool down.

Is it like a stair Master? Those are a great work out. I have not done that it a while...I might need to add it to next weeks workout.

The name alone sounds intimidating.

Nice job, Rhett. I bet that was quite a workout. Could you feel your heart pounding in your chest?

From Kelli on Sun, Aug 16, 2009 at 18:04:21 from 71.219.64.200

Sounds like a pretty successful week! I am going to keep dropping by and hope your positive attitude and smart running will rub off on me!

From Teena on Sun, Aug 16, 2009 at 22:39:27 from 67.177.20.13

The gauntlet??? Sounds super scary!!! Did they ever get your arc trainer fixed!!!

Yes, Kelli ... keep dropping by. Rhett is completely AWESOME!!!

Btw, nice job on the workout Rhett!!! I told Ryan today on our drive home that if we ever have another girl ... WHICH WE WILL NOT ... that I would name her Doone. We were passing the Sand Dunes in Idaho some where ... made me think of your wife. Coolest name EVER!!! (Maybe I can talk one of my children into naming one of my grandchildren Doone!!)

From Rhett on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 12:47:39 from 74.41.249.102

Teena, you are too kind. And I will let Doone know that you think her name is cool. That will put a smile on her face. And, no they never fixed the arc trainer properly. It makes a horrible clunking sound when you do it with any intesity.

Kathie, the best way to describe it is a treadmill with steps. I can tell it worked, because my calfs were sore this morning on my run.

Kelli, it helps to have someone else go through and injury with you. We can help each other I'm sure.

My podiatrist advised against the cortizone shot (but said he would do it if I wanted). With the lack of improvement I was seeing he felt like I need to go to physical therapy. They believe the problem stems from a very weak ankle. Do you know what a pain it is to do ankle exercises????

Anyway, I am bagging the half this weekend, and I will take one more week off from running. That will give ma e month to try to get my stamina back for St George. I am sure my time will be slower than it could have been, but i already got my BQ this year so I am okay. (I say this now, but I will be back to crying and whining tomorrow I am sure.)

Now, to get my husband that BQ so we can go to Boston together, with Teena and whoever else shows up! Ya comin again?

From Rhett on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 18:50:46 from 74.32.218.69

Kelli, since you are already BQ'd you are very smart to just keep doing the PT. If you got the shot and things got worse you may not be able to train for Boston. Good luck to your hubby on the BQ. Yes I'll be there with the whole gang. I re-BQ'd in Boston last year. It was so much fun last year even with the bum foot. Due to my injury, Boston will be my next marathon. I hope my wife will be joining me this year...as a spectator. Then someday as a racer.

From Kelli on Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 18:53:22 from 71.219.64.200

Well, Teena and Smooth's husbands are spectators and mine may be as well (not that I think he won't get his BQ, but ya never know!!!) I will run St George, I will!!!!!! It just may not be a good race. And Boston is just for fun, so I do not care so much about the training, as long as I can run it!

Thanks for the help and for lifting my spirits!
