My calf felt good after the rest day yesterday and I was excited that hit the Tahoe Rim Trail this morning.  I'm not sure what happened, but about a half mile into thee run my calf tightened up so much immediately stopped and walked back and went to the fitness center at our resort.  20 minutes on stationary bike. 30 minutes elliptical. Looks like I want nt be doing any more running this week.  :(

That calf stuff makes me cringe - been through some of that, and it's not fun. Way to listen to your body.

My calf has often been my nemesis! Sorry to hear that yours is not behaving right now. Boo!! Boo!! Boo!!

What a bummer. So close to the marathon, too!

As you know, I've had problems with my calf and after seeing my doctor about it, he said it was from not being properly hydrated and it was causing huge knots to form. At that point I knew I wasn't drinking nearly enough, maybe 30 to 40 oz per day, but thought to myself "There's no way THAT is what's causing the calf pain." But I was desperate for the pain to stop, so I began drinking anywhere from 75 to 95 oz and haven't had any problems since. Go figure.

Sorry to hear that the calf's acting up again. Way to listen to your body and give it rest. Hang in there.

How is your calf today?

Matt, Dale, HBR… Unfortunately that calf has given too much grief over the last year. It just always seems to pop up at the worst time. Oh well, I'll just try and get it better by race day.

Teena! It is so great to hear from you. The blog has not been the same without you. Today my calf feels a lot better. I'm going to give it at least a couple more days before I try and run on it, but the cross training feels pretty good.
