So the doc's office calls me this morning and tells me they have the report and I need to come in and see the doctor to go over the results.  The catch- the doctor is only in on Tuesdays.  What?????  I need a schedule like that.  No wonder he was so backed up when I went in to see him.

Anyways, I didn't let it go at that.  I kept at it long enough until at least they read the report to me.  I do have a stress fracture.  I asked if I should stay off of it.  They said, walking around on it should be ok, but I have to see the doctor for any other info.

Oh nuts! Sorry man.

From DonGardinero on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 13:40:26 from 75.162.98.54

That just plain stinks. Well, on the bright side, you've already taken a few weeks off for recovery.

From Teena Marie on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 15:11:52 from 174.52.45.85

I'm glad you kept at them.

So ... can you have ultrasound done or anything to speed the recovery?

I really really really didn't think it was a stress fracture. Dang -- I was so off.

I am sorry Rhett. You are already on week 3 of recovery, right?

From Rhett on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 15:20:05 from 74.32.223.102

At least I know what is up and yes I'm almost done with my 3rd week of recovery, so if I'm a good boy, hopefully I'll be back running in 3 to 6 weeks. I have a secret weapon I'm using to make my bone heal faster that I started last Saturday. I don't know about utrasound or anything else that will speed recovery. I'll have to ask the doc on Tuesday.

From Mack on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 18:19:02 from 71.111.186.66

At least you know exactly what it is now. And at least it is something that will heal 100% with time. Secret weapon??

From Doone on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 20:31:04 from 184.10.154.170

My poor coach. Down for the count but not out yet. We will get you back to 100% for sure. At least it isn't some mystery pain that would be way worse.

From MarcE on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 23:50:16 from 204.16.82.120

You ran so fast you broke your leg!?!?! Enjoy some down time and gain some weight...then just maybe I'll be able to beat you some day! :) Seriously, take care of yourself.

From RivertonPaul on Fri, Jun 25, 2010 at 00:20:50 from 69.15.135.100

I'm glad you were sensible and stopped running to find out what was wrong. Sorry it is the fracture.

From Mack on Fri, Jun 25, 2010 at 11:56:59 from 71.111.186.66

Are you still cross training?

From Rhett on Sat, Jun 26, 2010 at 19:57:48 from 184.10.154.170

Thanks all. I've been off camping with the Scouts all weekend. Yep, still cross training.

Secret weapon--Remember how T.O. came back and played in the super bowl 3 weeks after breaking his leg. I've been told he was using a medication called Forteo. I may have possibly got my hands on a month supply of the stuff (cost over $900) for free and I may have been injecting myself with it for the last couple weeks. Hopefully I will make a full recovery quickly.

From Smooth on Sun, Jun 27, 2010 at 01:25:24 from 174.23.236.38

Holy cow! You were right all along! GLAD you've already started on the secret weapon. Your doc needs to pay you for your time and self-diagnosis/treatment! Here's to speedy healing and back to 100% running.

From MarcE on Sun, Jun 27, 2010 at 16:13:51 from 204.16.82.120

I hope that if you possibly did get a hold of the alleged Forteo stuff, that it works for you! :)

From Teena Marie on Sun, Jun 27, 2010 at 16:41:43 from 174.52.45.85

Hypothetically speaking ... I would really be interested to see how this works for you! :)

Just remember ... no breast-feeding while on it! :) :) :)

From Andy on Mon, Jun 28, 2010 at 10:33:32 from 198.60.114.178

I'm so sorry about the stress fracture. You've been down this road before and know how well you come back from injury because of your incredible fitness and cross training regimen.

From timp on Mon, Jun 28, 2010 at 12:03:50 from 144.189.100.25

speedy healing, Rhett

From fly on the Wall on Mon, Jun 28, 2010 at 12:26:19 from 204.113.19.47

Bummer! But at least you know what you are dealing with.

I assume you've read the osteosarcoma warning for Forteo? Do the potential benefits out weigh the potential risks?

From Kelli on Mon, Jun 28, 2010 at 14:12:14 from 71.219.99.30

CRAP! Sorry to hear that!

That doctor does have a nice schedule!

From DonGardinero on Tue, Jun 29, 2010 at 11:05:22 from 75.162.188.133

Any word yet from the doc?
