USU track 5 x 1 mile with 2 minute recoveries. cold. windy. snowy. didnt go all out, so not really VO2max, but with the cold and snow I will count it as such.

calves a little troublesome. tomorrow I will do the elliptical and stat bike. All I have to do it make it through a long run Saturday with my calves intact and I can start a 3 week taper.

nice mile repeats in the not so nice weather. i know you will be tapering, but are you planning on running the first dam race this year?

From redrooster on Tue, Oct 27, 2009 at 15:36:42 from 129.123.3.31

Allie, yes, I always do first dam, I can't miss that. I probably won't "intend" to go all out, but with Keith Anderson there I will have no choice but to try to keep up with him, although I have yet to beat him in the first dam run, he is just too fast.

Are you doing the 5 or 10K? I always do the 10.

Lonely at the track these days. Carol is injured and Neal has meetings so I am all alone. Maybe we should reschedule the day so you and others can make it? we could move to monday or wednesday?

i have always done the 10k in the past, but this year i am doing the 5k. i really hate the distance so i am trying to embrace my fears and go after some shorter distance goals that i have been avoiding. mondays and wednesdays are great for me. if you can do speedwork on either of those days i would definitely join you. let me know what works best.

Allie, go for it, I did the same thing, running a couple "fast" (for me) 5Ks recently, with a 17:47 at TOU. it is indeed tough to run that fast but TOU 5K is a good course with not much elevation change.

I'll email you next week and see what your schedule is!

For having a troublesome calf those splits were pretty tight.
