I'm kind of breaking away from the normal use of this blog and decided to set up a recipe blog so anyone can see what exactly this crazy family eats every day. We are very consistent and dedicated to good health. We have a unique way of eating that has brought us health and happiness.

Time to cut down on something...and that is this recipe blog for awhile. I am now 33 1/2 weeks pregnant and I'm cutting some things out. Thanks to all of you who have diligently checked out what we crazies eat everyday. I'd like to collect healthy recipes from all the bloggers and maybe make a blog cook book that will inspire all of us to eat more whole foods....maybe that will happen before the baby...maybe not. 

Just a couple of fun ideas for today. If you have a poweful blender(we have a K-Tec). ...I've been making this delicious banana ice cream out of frozen bananas and soymilk. I put much less soymilk than I would for a smoothie and it comes out thick and frozen and sweet.....just like ice cream should be.

Jenny, our 8 year old, made some really good trail mix today. The addition that I thought was super yummy was a little bit of puffed wheat. She also got the proportions beautifully. She made one serving for herself and put about a Tablespoon of the following ingredients in (for a crowd I'd put in 1/2 to 1 cup of each)

pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flame raisins, puffed wheat, carob chips,  and peanuts..oh and she said she sprinkled a little peanut butter on top. It was good. I think we'll be making it for our camping trip this weekend.  Best of luck to all you healthy eaters out there.

Thanks...I already miss doing it but I think it's time to take a break..especially in the next couple of weeks since I probably won't be cooking as much. Good luck!!

How many calories does the banana ice cream contain for 16oz? Very nice job Sarah.

You're kidding about the calories,right? I don't know how many calories are in a banana but since it's mostly bananas knowing that would help you figure it out. I don't eat the way we do for weight loss...I watch my overall food intake and try to eat until I'm full. I gain weight if I overeat. I feel terrible if I don't eat enough.

It was a joke, because you said Ice Cream and I'm thinking Ice Cream made other ways how high in Calories it is. You can't have real ice cream and call it ice cream without high calories and goodies on top. :-)

I'll have to try your recipe. I do like smoothie's. I go to Jamba Juice and get smoothie's all the time. I only get the healthy ones.

Mayan Burritos:

-Overtly orange sweet potatoes, smashed.

-Beautifully black beans.

-Garishly green guacamole.

-Really red tomatoes, diced (and if they're in season, yellow and purple heirloom tomatoes).

-Salsa (the hotter the better but suite yourself).

-Cilantro.

-Whole wheat tortillas.

-Optional- cheese and/or sour cream (non-fat plain yogurt is a good substitute).

Bake the sweet potatoes @ 350F until tender (about 45-60 mins), remove the skins, and smash them (the potatoes not the skins).

Simmer the black beans in a sauce pan with diced onions and minced garlic. Canned or dried black beans both work.

Warm the tortillas one at a time in a skillet or wrap a bunch of them in foil and warm them in a 300F oven.

Artfully arrange spoonfuls of color on a tortilla and try to wrap it into a burrito.
