I'm kind of breaking away from the normal use of this blog and decided to set up a recipe blog so anyone can see what exactly this crazy family eats every day. We are very consistent and dedicated to good health. We have a unique way of eating that has brought us health and happiness.

Miles:This week: 0.00 Month: 0.00 Year: 0.00

Breakfast: oats and granola ( I actually rebelled and had raisin bran again..I can only handle oats so many times a week. Don't get me wrong. I love them....I just need a change sometimes. My kids however like things to be the same and some of them don't like raisin bran...more for me)

Lunch: Cheesy Corn Quesidillas

sides: baby carrots and ...ta da...the first cucumber of the year....wait the second...I ate the first myself one night when we hadn't had any veggies that day and i was craving something.

Dinner: Fruteos cereal (looks like fruit loops...DOES NOT TASTE LIKE IT...but my kids don't know that so they loved it) I had some of the homemade bread I made this afternoon with PB and J since I just can't eat fake fruit loops that just taste blah...most of the healthy versions of stuff really tastes yummy or even better...not this....I bought two boxes of it on sale and I think we'll use the other box to make cereal necklaces....an experience every child should have a least once in awhile.

Sorry for commenting on such an old post---but that cracked me up!! Fruit Loops are my absolute weakness in life, more so than chocolate and homemade bread! They are definitely something you can not fake. I would make necklaces out of them, too!

I enjoy talking to you..comment on anything you like. I guess I love Fruit Loops too because they fake version was not okay with me...luckily I don't crave them or I might be in trouble. I usually can get by on "fake" stuff and be happy.

Oh...I'm so jealous about the produce co-op. I loved it when they had one in Provo..but the price of gas went up and this farm only does Salt Lake and nearby areas. I'm sure you are doing much better than you think about your family eating healthy. I don't have too much advice on how to convert kids from a standard American diet to one of whole foods (which is what you would call what we eat...some people are raw, some vegan...we do whole foods). My kids have eaten this way since they were little.

We buy treats at Good Earth and I homemake a lot of treats(I don't always post every single treat we have...I barely can get the meals on there it seems). When my kids complain I just make them eat it anyway. I don't know if that's the best way but it's what I've done. Maybe involving them in the menu planning might help or really teaching them about what refined foods do to your body. Kids respond to a little responsibility and knowledge...good luck..I'm sure you are doing great.

What kind of treats do you buy at Good Earth? We try to make a run (in the car, not by foot) there once a month or so. Again, the price of gas affects how often we make it there!

We love the Lundbergs Brown Rice Cakes (Albertson's used to carry them, but stopped). Other than that, I just buy ground flaxseed and the occasional cracker (we tried one this week that was made with almonds--it was GOOD!) I always hesitate to try something new unless someone has recommended it to me!

Okay, I guess I should get off the computer and go make dinner. AGAIN, thanks so much for your help! Running and nutrition are the it things at our house right now. My eating is okay, but my kids just fight me every step of the way and it is hard to make them one thing and then make something else for my healthy husband and teen-ager! On a bright note, I got every single on of them to try pineapple last night and they all liked it (we grilled it on the BBQ---nothing like a little natural sugar!)

Okay---really off to cook now!
