No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

6:00am

I got called in to work again this morning at 4:30am and barely got things squared away in time to meet Preston for our run at 6:00am. We did our usual route around Gravelly Lake and a couple laps around Steilacoom Park. It rained pretty hard for the last few miles, but it wasn't too cold and I felt great through the whole run. It was a nice way to end the week with over 70 miles. Now I'm going shopping for some new blister remedies and spending the rest of the day with Kym at the Northwest Ministry Conference.

70 miles! Fantastic week of running. Hope you can get the blister issues under control.

I didn't expect to crack 70 this week or ever for that matter, but the extra run with my daughter last night put me over. I plan to keep it closer to 60mpw to reduce my risk of overuse injury. I'm a little paranoid about that since I've never trained this hard before. My calves are feeling much better this week in spite of the increased mileage, but the blisters still suck! I went to the Foot Zone today and got some running specific socks and some new body glide "liquid powder" samples for my feet. Ooh, I also got a "stick" massager for my legs; it is so awesome! I thought they were just another silly as seen on tv thing until I tried one...so great!

The socks could definitely help. Huh, never tried the "stick" massager...I'll have to give it a try.

The stick is great! It's basically a lumpy rolling pin for your muscles. I got the red one, it's stiffer than the others so you can really work the deep tissue.

You got called in to work at 4:30? That stinks! But I guess you are used to it, you are a 4:30 kind of guy I gather. Sleep in a little so the rest of us do not look so lazy!

Hope you enjoyed your conference.

The conference was cool. Kym taught a class on ministering to kids with behavior challenges. I love to watch her teach; she is such a gifted speaker.

oh, and I plan to sleep in until 6:00am tomorrow :)

I put some burn ointment by your sink in the bathroom. It has lidocaine in it so I think it will help numb your blisters while you run. Then while you are off riding your motorcycle in the snow, sleet, rain and hail, I am going to work out pretty much all day at the Y :)

I'm really proud of you and your running accomplishments. You rock!
