No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

I expected to feel better after two days of rest. I was able to keep a good pace without too much effort, but I just didn't feel like going any farther. This was supposed to be my "long run" for the week. Where has my motivation gone?

Stop being so hard on urself!

From rattletrap on Sun, Nov 29, 2009 at 20:29:00 from 24.19.93.139

I'm not being hard on myself. I'm just wondering how I can run out of motivation before I run out of energy...

WEll I think it is a mindset. You are expecting a lot from your legs b/c you feel great and then when you don't follow through with pace or whatever you seem to get down on yourself. Just an observation...and I'm thinking this only b/c I do it myself.

I will be pumped to run but then my performance/numbers doesn't reflect it...I hope this makes sense??

I think you're right about it being in my mind :) For some reason I'm just not as motivated as I was before. My performance for 8 - 10 miles is as good or even better now than it was back in May. I just seem to feel like quitting after an hour or so even though I'm not worn out yet. (insert lightbulb here) I think I just realized what's missing...

For some reason I have abandoned my normal routine. I used to have sportdrink before and after every workout and a protein drink after each one. I also listened to the bible on my mp3 player unless I was racing or running with a friend. I am missing both my physical and spiritual fuel!!

I can see how that would throw you off. Are you going to get back into your routine?
