Preston took a different route to the park today so we never connected until we got to the coffee shop at 6. My calf is feeling much better, but now I have a pain in the top of my right foot. I think I must have aggrivated something in there this month with the intervals or the extra long runs to the park or both.

More often than not pain in the top of the foot can be solved by tying the shoe really loosely.

From rAtTLeTrAp on Sat, Jun 23, 2012 at 22:29:17 from 98.247.27.122

Yeah, I learned that really early. Now I keep my shoes VERY loose. The pain I experienced from that several years ago would go away quickly once the shoe was loosened up. This time it is not going away and even bothers me walking around barefoot. I'm hoping it's just a pinched nerve or something. If it gets any worse tomorrow on the trail run I'll probably go to the doc for an xray...

Nice run! Glad the calf is better... although bummer about the foot. Hopefully just a passing pain.

From I Just Run on Mon, Jun 25, 2012 at 10:02:51 from 67.79.11.242

Hopefully to top of the foot thing is just an aggrivation and will go away soon. It's good to see you back to your old (I mean consistant) self :-)

From rAtTLeTrAp on Mon, Jun 25, 2012 at 10:12:35 from 174.253.195.174

There's something bad going on in there. The trail run yesterday was confirmation. I'm taking the rest of the week off and seeing the foot doc on Friday. Looks like I may end up volunteering at the relay instead of running.

Nooooo!!! Seems like almost everyone on the blog (the ones I chat with) are injured :-( Sorry to hear about the problem. Hopefully it will just be a matter of a little time to recover.

How's everything going?

From rAtTLeTrAp on Tue, Jun 26, 2012 at 17:03:02 from 174.253.202.14

My foot is feeling better today, but I know it will probably flare up again if I run on it too soon. I may take it for a test drive again before I go to the doc on Friday. I wonder how many days I could take off and still survive the ragnar relay on the 20th? I'm finally reading Dean Karnazes' book 26.2 and it is making me want to run! I don't want to drop out.

You must run Ragnar. For glory!

I know...right?!

Trap,

How long is the Rangnar? I was out from running basiclly a full month before my first marathon with a bone spur in my knee. I ran 20 miles before the knee started to lock-up. I ran a respectable (for me) 8:00 pace for the 20 miles. I know I'm not in your class running but I think you can be off for quite a while and do pretty good!

From rAtTLeTrAp on Wed, Jun 27, 2012 at 09:37:19 from 174.253.202.14

IJR - My 3 legs of the relay total 24.4 miles. I'll probably just run unless I have a stress fracture or something terrible like that. I was thinking I could trade places with one of our volunteers, but I just got news that 2 of our 3 have dropped out. The only volunteer we have left is my wife and she hasn't been training at all since August. I'm not worried about how fast I run, I just don't want to drop out and let the team down after making a commitment.
