I ran out towards the riverbottoms trying to set my site on actually meeting Tom and the gang and as I came off the hill from GU corner I passed a runner that looked like Tom and then I passed a girl who looked like Kim, I think Kim saw me turn around and got a little nervous but as I made my way back to GU corner they were waiting and we were finally able to put a face with the name, thanks to Michelle L for the introduction and breaking the ice... It was so cool to finally meet them they are so nice and Kim is just like she is on the Blog a ray of sunshine. After talking for a bit I headed for home to check on my lovely wife who has been sick in bed the last couple of days from the flu. She was doing fine so I headed out to the old barn for a couple more to give me 11 miles for the day. After talking with Kim and Tom I thought I started my watch but I must of hit the lap button and I didn't notice if for about a mile and a half, so I had to reset my watch with about 2 miles to go for the first 9 miles. Needless to say my times are all screwed up but no worries, I know my average pace was around 8:30 for must of the run. I did run a 33:20 for 4 miles after I reset my watch and that was at the end of the run so I was pleased with that...

When I got home the second time my son Ethan was waiting in his basketball uniform and informed me that his game was at 9:00 am, luckily I cut my run short today or I would have been in trouble. But being the kind of kid Ethan is he told me not to worry and he knew that I was training and that we had plenty of time and that he was just glad that I made it home, not bad for a 10 year old kid. Sometimes kids become who they are in spite of their parents and as I got in the shower I broke down in tears that a 10 year old has such compassion and understanding considering what he has been through, I am truly blessed!

This has been a great day. Not because of the run, but because of the people that I have in my life and the blessings that come with that...

See ya Monday.

Great to meet you today Clay. Nice blog entry today, sounds like you have a great family. Hope you are past the flu and hope your wife is also soon recovered.

It was so nice to meet you Clay. Thanks for not breaking out your pepper spray (I realized that I slapped your arm or something and that touching was grounds for self defense :) I had a good chuckle at myself). I'm sorry I couldn't stay and chat more, I just needed to get going and find some one to run with since I slept in. I am sure we'll see you again soon.

Excellent week of running, Clay - looks like the injuries are behind you and you are ramping up your mileage again. You beat me by 2 miles this week! Keep up the great work . . .
