50:00 minutes on the elliptical again this morning, I used my heart rate monitor and was surprised what it had to say... A recovery run for me when I am actually running is just under a 9:00 minute pace, and my heart rate is around 130 to 135 and this is about where my average was today, and that was keeping the RPM at or above 95. There was about 10 minutes where my haert rate jumped up above 150 due to the resistance that I had and the incline at 15%. But I would say my heart rate was averageing more above 135 than below it, so I think I am doing the right type of workout when I am on the elliptical to achieve and simulate what I am doing out on the road.
I am trying to keep my aerobic base where it is and not lose anything, and so I think this can only help down the road if I keep on the same course until I am able to start running again. It doesn't hurt to develop that aerobic base up I think, and it will help my speed to in the long run. I think this would equal to about 6 miles of running time wise according to my heart rate and the abiltity to hold the heart rate pretty steady at 135 to 140, but I am still going to go with goose egg on the mileage board.
