Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

We woke up and some of the gals had gotten in the hot tub, but I just slept longer :) We packed up and cleaned up and then took off for home. I thought we might stop by Pawn Stars, but nope. Jeff and I were disappointed.

We had such a fun ride home! You know after you've shared so much with people on your team for these 4 days that life just gets fun. We were all rested and Kimberly and I were convincing everyone that they were runners. We'd get cussed at, but it was still fun :)

We ate up the rest of the candy/snacks from grocery shopping and got ice cream in Scipio. Best. Stop. Ever. Told fun jokes and played fun games. I almost didn't want to go home. I'd missed my family, but having 'adult' fun was a nice change from the daily grind of my life.

I'm still not 100% converted to Ragnar, but I liked this one a LOT more than Wasatch Back. I think the people/your team is what makes or breaks your experience. I'm glad my team all felt like they had a good experience and that we now want to do Napa Valley! I can't wait :)

My legs aren't super sore from Ragnar and my gazillion miles, but they are fatigued. No major aches, but I think it best to take a few days off to recover before I DO get injured.

Met Becca at my gym, she did a TM workout...killin' the speed and miles! I walked at 4.0% incline at 3.5 mph. I did 1.75 miles total in the time I was there. Said goodbye to Becca :( Then did the spin bike for another 35 minutes. Chatted too much and had to pay an extra punch for daycare. stink. oh well.

Still don't feel like the legs are ready for a run...so I did the elliptical for an hour, because I didn't want to spin either.

Saw Kelli as I was leaving so I jumped on the TM and chatted/walked with her for the next 10 min until I had to go get baby from daycare.

I felt like I was ready to run a bit today, so I did the TM for 3 easy miles. Progressive starting at 6.8mph and finishing at 7.6mph. AP: 8:27

I was going to finish up on the elliptical, but my friend I hadn't talked to in a while was running alone on the track, so I caught up with her and chatted for a bit. Well...that bit turned into well over 20 minutes. She runs slower, so I'm going to just assume it was around 2 miles. Good chat!

Then, I saw Adam walking up the stairs with the day care worker...crud. Well, it was just a poopy diaper - thankfully. Changed him and finished up the last 15 min on the elliptical. stretched a little and headed home. The 'off season' is a nice time!

Urban Trail Loop with the Newtons. I thought there would be more snow on the trail, but there was little to NO snow. Just holes and rocks to twist ankles on...Chad and I both tried!

Good pace for the fatigue in my legs. At least it was under a 9mm. I made everyone stop at mile 4.5 just before jumping on the trail so that I could catch my breath and relax for a second....yeah, I'm not still recovering, why do you ask? :)

AP: 8:54, splits: 9:13, 9:07, 8:56, 8:36, 9:06, 8:48, 9:01, 8:23 - I always run those first 4 progressive, then I hit the trail and it all goes to pot. At least the last mile was a good pace, even though I felt like I was running a 7:00mm!

Got home and had 1 hr to sleep before kids wake up time. Took that long to get warm, even in dry clothes. Gotta love winter running. Well, sad thing is I got them up then scurried back under the covers to get warm again and I fell asleep. Good thing my kids are pretty self-sufficient in the morning. I woke up exactly 1 min past "on time leaving" time for school. Threw lunches together and got the kids to school on time...not early, but on time.

It was these short 10 minutes where I decided that I didn't want to go to the gym. My legs are fatigued and tired. 8 miles is enough, right? I'm still in recovery and don't need to pay to abuse myself and break down a broken down body any more. So, I went home and snuggled on the couch with my baby for a couple hours. Perfection.

One hour of spin bike while reading. My shins aren't too happy with me. Not horrible mind you. Nothing that needs meds, but something that I need to pay attention to with fatigued legs and after my crazy last month! Body needs a rebuild session.

Oh, and if you haven't, you need to read "Once a Runner" best fiction book written about runners/running EVER. You will sit and nod and FEEL some of the passages as they describe breakdown training, distance runs, interval training, highs and lows of running, races...oh my. Seriously, an AWESOME book! I'm almost done :)

A beautiful morning run with Smooth and Luz! I haven't run with Luz in eons and I soaked up every wonderful minute. No speed or distance records were broken, but I had the most wonderful perfect run. I truly love those ladies! The weather was wonderful too. We got a little sprinkle on the way home, but that was it.

I got there a bit late due to my insomniac of a two year old, but the ladies waited for me. However, I didn't realize that Chad was waiting to run into us as well. We did end up seeing him just before Willow Park and got to run a couple miles with him before he headed home! I miss these runs and all the wonderful people I run them with!! It was great to see you out and feeling good Chad!

I thought the ladies only wanted to run 6 or 8 so I kept expecting them to turn around, but we nearly got to the end of the trail before Luz asked how far we'd gone...over 5 miles. I wasn't complaining :) It would be the furthest Luz had gone since her last full, she was a little nervous. On the way back we stopped at Willow Park and the scouts that had done winter camp were out in full force. Finally warmed up with breakfast in their guts and playing - not just sitting around the fire. A group of boys were playing 500 with a football as we ran by. Since the football hit the ground, I sprinted ahead and tried to grab it, but another kid got to it at the same time. I said "hey, no! I want the ball...it's mine!" I grabbed it out of his hands and with some maniacal laughter started running away and told them they could have it if they could catch me. The boys all got a good laugh out of the old lady trying to play football. I threw it back to the thrower and then ran off waving amidst the cheers and thumbs up. Oh yeah, I'm cool like that :) I'm the mom that belongs at scout camp.

We all finished 10.25 and Luz was on cloud nine about how well her body had fared and how well she felt. Then, Smooth said the magic word "Kneaders" = Heaven! :) Well, 3 hours later I finally headed home. Yup, perfect morning. I owe my hubby BIG time for letting me go AWOL this morning. Too bad letting him out of the Turkey Day 5K I just registered him for when he said "I'd rather sleep in on my holiday" isn't on the table!

Anyone want to do a Black Friday Run?!?
