I had to come back here today to read my Ogden 2012 race report...my first BQ.
My life has changed a lot since those days, but one thing hasn't: my love for this blog and the people I met here! So, I had to write a little quaint note about life. I need to get back here and blog more. I think it would help my motivation.
Well, motivation may be the wrong word. I run, a lot still. But, running has taken on new meaning in my life. Due to Zac's death and the health issues that have plauged me since then, I've had to adapt to a new normal. I'm not the speed focused runner I once was. I just run what I want, when I want and at whatever pace I want. I don't feel like my body is quite ready to tackle the training burden that comes with speed...or maybe I'm just being lazy about it and using it as an excuse. I haven't quite figured it out yet.
I've started working towards new goals, but they are typically more along the lines of simply getting through the day without taking a nap AND being productive! HA! It rarely happens. But, baby Fartlek is carrying the torch for me.
He is currently getting ready for the State USATF meet and trying to qualify for Nationals. I hope that he is able to make it. He has worked really hard this season and is running quite well right now! 13:27 for a 3K on grass with hills. Dang! Then I read my race report...I used to be able to keep up with him!
My pace is around a 9-9:30 AP on most runs and then I'll throw in some trails and those are even slower. But, I enjoy my time moving and my friends and nature. I CAN run! So, I just drink in every minute and I've learned to just not care about pace. Maybe someday again...someday :)
