Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Tried out a new loop today - copied Cal's RC out and back, but I think I ran it wrong. It was a mile longer than anticipated, which was fine except my hubby didn't appreciate having to wait longer to get off to work. Oh well, 10 minutes isn't too bad.

Interesting how this run was uphill both ways...out and back. It's a gradual uphill climb along the foothills, then a crazy downhill stretch, then the long gradual 2.5 mile climb home. It honestly was a good route and I'm excited to try it again.

Along 13400 S there is a dirt trail for about a mile that Wendy helped me discover  on Saturday. It's a lot nicer than running the shoulder of the road there, but I think it makes it a tad slower because of maneuvering through the dirt piles and uneven surface. Who knows...

Worked hard on the uphills and on one of my uphill miles home that I usually hate I hit almost a sub 9 (9:06) I'm getting closer to that sub 9 goal on those hills! Feel really good today, rest days and a bowl of ice cream always seem to do that for me :)

Now I'm off to step class and ab's class - onward and upward!

**as a side note, I can't wait for Onion Days in 2 Weeks!! My fun run of the year with family, Marion's killer syrup, good friends, parade and a great race. I don't think I'll be placing in my AG this year, but it will still be exciting!**

I truly live in a beautiful place and am blessed to be able to run every morning and enjoy the beauty I'm surrounded by!

Tried a few Fartleks in lap 3 along the nice flat road - every other light post, I don't think I'll be gathering enough speed back before Onion Days 10K to place this year, but I will always go out and do my best. I honestly think the speed is there, it's just getting drowned out by the extra 20 pounds still sitting on my hips and I think I've forgotten how to race hard and push myself for a long time. Hmmm, we'll see I guess.

Now off to Body sculpt and I'll probably hit the TM for a few extra.

ugghhh, it was one of 'those' nights...followed by one of 'those' mornings. My feet were moving in a semblance of running, what more do you want?

No focus on the run other than just to get through it and what I can of the day so I can take a nap this afternoon, well maybe depending on how all the issues from last night work out...

It was another beautiful morning though, and if I wasn't half asleep I probably would've enjoyed it more. Sunrise and Moon-set, simply amazing!

AP: 9:06 splits: 8:52, 8:53, 8:59, 9:14, 9:13, 9:35, 9:17, 8:50 (last .1)

I'm going to need my time at the gym today. Boot camp and then either a few more miles on the TM or ellilptical/reading time to finish up my book. Stay tuned....

**ran just over 1 mile during boot camp, then hit the TM for 10 min to do one more mile and finished up the time to 8:40AP. Then did the elliptical for 20 minutes and finished my book - excellent read! "The Lonely Polygamist"**

I need a nap....

My hi-country loop is nothing to be messed with; however, today I taunted it and toyed with it as I ran half asleep and it chewed me up and spit me out! I probably should've chosen a different route for 6 because of the way I was feeling this morning, but I just had it in my head to do hi-country, so I did.

Running is like my morning coffee...gets me energized and going for the day, but today it has had a short term effect. Came home and got the kids off to picture day at school, went to yoga (definitely a highlight!) and now I've got 2 bazillion things to do around the house since I've been 'working' all week, but all I want to do is sleep...

Oh how amazing to sleep in! Plus baby slept until 4:30 ate and went back to bed, so I finally got some sleep (only one interruption all night, not the 4-5 of the last couple nights!). Now I just have to get to bed on time tonight so I can wake up at the crack of dawn for my 18 miler with the croc runner :)

Rest day: did just 90 min on the elliptical @ L10 = 6.0 miles and caught up on one back issue of Runner's World. Good reading as always.

Good luck to all the racers tomorrow!! Love reading weekend race reports!

What a GREAT run! We had a nice crowd show up and I got to run with Cal, Allie and my SIL

I haven't gotten to run with a crowd for SO long it truly made the morning amazing and the miles flew by! It felt more like a 10 by myself than an 18. I was able to keep a decent pace and although I felt done at the end, I knew that I wouldn't be exhausted. Give me a few minutes to recover and I probably could've pulled out a few more miles. So, with hitting higher miles this week, keeping a faster pace and all the cross training classes as well, I'm feeling REALLY good. I might just be able to conquer SGM after all.

Maybe it's just all the good vibes that Allie puts out :) I'm certainly feeling like a rockstar today because she came out to run with little ol' slow me! Thanks Allie for being willing to come out and run with me -even though I tried to ditch you before the run even began :) for the yummy bananas that made me a rockstar when my kids got a treat when they saw me, the AMAZING company, and the opportunity to hang out with the famous Allie-croc in her inaugural long 'red' run! I've decided I'm going to have to try out the crocs on a run (another big thank you!), I probably won't give up my pampered princess shoes, but it's worth a try.

I think I'm now going to name this route "Cal's run" since this is the stretch he runs all the time. Thanks for showing us around Cal! I had a great time, as always, chatting away the miles with you.

Oh, and for anyone out there interested: You have to run on a bit of dirt, but you can run the JRP under 11400S bridge now. So, we were able to do 8 miles straight down to Bluffdale and then turn back starting at 9800S. Annette was the one that showed us this new connection! I was a little relieved I didn't have to run up and out of the river bottoms to get through.

The bugs were the only drawback from running the JRP (water ways in SL County aren't necessarily pretty). I think we were all redecorated with a nice slather of bugs when we were finished. Maybe that's why I felt so good on the run - the extra protein snacks :)

AP: 8:48 splits: 9:30, 8:50, 8:59, 8:50, 8:52, 8:46, 8:59, 8:47, 8:58, 8:54, 8:39. 8:42, 8:37, 8:45, 8:38, 8:38, 8:33, 8:36, 7:58 (last .15).

With a bit of a progressive run like that, it really gives me hope for SGM - as long as those darn stupid, stinkin' ITB's will cooperate!
