Short-Term Running Goals: Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal. It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :) I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!
Long-Term Running Goals:
Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.
Run for the rest of my life!
Personal: 4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!
Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free! I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front. After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM. Favorite Blogs: |

| | Kids off track so I got to sleep in till I felt darn stinkin' ready to get up - or was too scared about what the kids were doing unsupervised :) Elliptical 20 min @ L10 -1.5 miles 180 calories PT stuff, bosu ball (bi, tri, shoulders, raises, abs, single leg squats), 20 push-ups (girly ones), 60 crunches, 7 chin ups (assisted).
repeated 2 more times (1.6 miles on the last elliptical set) total of 60 minutes & 4.6 miles on the elliptical - I'm really getting sick of this machine!! I almost ran today - heaven help me I'm going crazy not being able to run. I wish my hip would heal already! No ITB issues today thank goodness!!!

Finally got to early spin class, right across the street from where BBK's were meeting - almost ditched class just to go visit for a bit! :) 60 minute spin - not a great class, but it was good. ITB started getting mad about 5 minutes in - I wasn't happy with it and just kept fighting back. Went home slept with stinky blanket for an extra hour, hit the sculpt class at the gym then packed up the kids and ran off to my SIL house. Cleaned and kept moving for another nearly 3 hours. She's been having a stressful couple weeks, so the only thing I figured I could do to help was her with household stuff. As to be expected she was a little embarrassed, but she teaches a pre-school out of her home and was out on a field trip, so by the time she knew what was going on I was 1/2 way done :) Felt really good to help out when it wasn't expected or even asked of me or necessarily wanted (who wants someone coming into their messy house to clean?? I'd have to 'clean' it first!). Rewarded myself (and 3 VERY helpful children) with an Ab's fat boy and hand-cut fresh fries on the way home -mmmmm, I'm feelin' good!! :)

| | SO tired from yesterday, and I just don't sleep well at night lately *sigh* I don't think it will get any better for the next 9-12 months. Boot camp - GREAT workout this morning Elliptical 30 min @ L10 resistance. Different machine than normal (brand too) so it said only .7 miles which didn't seem 'normal' for what I usually do. Oh well, I did it. Still dealing with ITB pain...just lingers on and annoys me when I least want it too. The good news is after being on my feet all day yesterday I don't have any increased pain in the hip. I'm feeling like running is getting closer and closer!!

Woke up for spin class - busy day and wanted to still get in a good workout. New teacher - GREAT class doing intervals, wow - sweat factory this morning!! Now I'm showered and ready for a little stretch yoga, then I'm off to downtown to the children's museum. Thankfully I have a wonderful friend that will be joining me so I'm not bored to death all afternoon! *ITB was good until the last 15 minutes of class. Higher resistance and lower speed seems to be better than more of a 'free spin' - still no increase in hip tenderness YEA*

| | Yes, I slept for 10.5 hours and I'm still tired and feel like death warmed over. I'm pretty sure I'm coming down with a cold. Scratchy throat, stuffed nose, headache - yeah, all the fun stuff. Decided to take it easier today to simply rest a bit. Got my new book for book club from the library "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" sat on the recumbent bike and did a good resistance for 75 minutes, but pretty easy. 400 calories and 17.5 miles, as you can see - easy. GREAT book so far! Tons better than the last one. Rest and fluids today - glad there are no pressing issues to get done. Still hoping to get up and out for spin/aqua jog tomorrow.

Felt pretty descent this morning, so I got up and headed down South to join Becca for spin. Got there early and another class was going, so I did 30 min on the elliptical - easy. Spin class was good - lots of sweat and TONS of hills!! Loved the 'slow motion' pedal he had us do. Really felt it in the hamstrings. Since I still didn't feel quite confident about swimming with my excision I did another 60 minutes on the elliptical (it was probably a little less, because I had to switch machines a couple times). Total of 2 hrs 30 min at the gym. Good times, good sweat and ready for a nap! :) Oh, as a side note...ultrasound is on Monday! Anybody like to venture a guess??
