Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

sleep, schmeep....sleep is over rated, who needs it?

I was scared of the cold. I was going to run a 5K on the road here at home before spin, but chickened out. I also didn't want to change into 'gym' clothes after sweating in 'warm' clothes...pathetic excuses, but that's what you get while lying in bed at 4:45 after 5 hours of sleep. So, I slept a little extra and did miles (YAY) at the gym.

2 miles on the indoor track - no idea on the pace, but it was a negative split going by the ladies that passed me the first mile, then I caught and overtook the second mile.

Spin class; 60 min - dang this was hard today! Seemed like we never got to rest!

3.1 (5K) with Becca on the indoor track. It was fun to have that third mile be my 'mystery' mile :) it's been a LONG time since I've run 'mystery' miles! Again no idea on pace...started slow, my legs were dead from body sculpting yesterday and spin class, but I think it was probably around a 9:10-9:20 AP. Furthest continuous run to date - YAY! Thanks for being so patient with your slow, prego running friend Bec!

drive home and all the while consider doing 2 more with some neighbors at home. They run about a 13mm pace, so I knew it would be slow. Finally friends, downhill, the road, good weather, and a little sun convinced me! PLUS - I finally got to use my garmin again for the first time since Christmas Eve!

2 miles on the road - 1st downhill, but with the ladies (so it was nice and slow) 2nd flat/up to home. Had to pick up the pace a bit...I needed to be home by 10 and they had left late. First mile was 10:37, then the second was 9:08.

Felt good to get out today - hip feels fine, ITB feels fine and with new shoes and an amazing belly band (which really just squishes all my fat up out the top and makes me look horribly FAT!) I feel GREAT! Easing back into running has actually been a good thing, and taking breaks between sets seems to be doing my body well. I'm getting more and more confident about running the SLC 1/2 in about a month.

I am proud of you RAD. I think that belt is sexy, where can I get one? Great workout. Let's think about a few possibilities for next weeks workout.

hmmm...next week will be early! I want to do a run then spin, but that will be early...yikes!

From Smooth on Sat, Mar 20, 2010 at 16:47:12 from 174.23.198.220

YAY! CONGRATS on the run(S), first the TM racing some lady next to you, then a 5K on the track w/ Bec and then on the road w/ neighbors! Oh and the spin class! WOW, I'm tired just reading about it! That is SO GREAT! I didn't know you're running SLC 1/2! Wow, you should wear a shirt that says "Baby on board"! AWESOME girl!

Glad you feel good about the workout.

glad you're having a good transition back into running w/o any of your old issues

I've got to find out more about this belly band thing...

you'll have fun doing the SL 1/2 with all your friends....just enjoy the run & don't put pressure on yourself

I can't believe you are running a half in a month WHILE PREGNANT! I was SO fat while pregnant, I could hardly walk into the In N Out ;) POWERHOUSE!

From calliej on Sat, Mar 20, 2010 at 23:11:11 from 97.126.137.211

Nice run!!! I registered to run SLC 1/2 but that is out. I keep thinking maybe there will be some miracle and I will be able to run it.

Glad things are going so well for you!

Toby- you had 3 babies in your belly at once.

From Emily on Sat, Mar 20, 2010 at 23:14:33 from 71.219.137.145

WOW! I bet you feel AMAZING! Great job!

From Nancy on Sat, Mar 20, 2010 at 23:25:19 from 76.27.19.206

Great job Rachel. Even with the layoff and being pregnant you are already a lot faster than I am. I'm excited for you to come back to running group. My goal for the Riverton 1/2 is just to finish.

Smooth, hmmm - I may have to make a new t-shirt for the race. I'll be taking clever ideas :) Now that I'm not the 'virgin' anymore - hehehehe.

Paul, I still am waiting to have my reuben! Ever since you posted that I've needed/craved one! :)

Carolyn, thanks - feeling slow and sluggish, but GREAT!

QP, definitely NO pressure in the 'race' I just have a free entry, so "why not?" The belly band is great, especially for pushing fat in awkward places! I cant comfortably wear it on the bike - had to take it off!

Toby, you had THREE and I've only got ONE!! Ate In N out first time nauseated while pregnant...not sure I'd RUN to it now :)

Callie, I'm running for a friend from Chicago who paid entry, but got into Boston (duh, which would I choose?). So, if you can find a 'ghoster' to run slow and easy with me we can ghost together! :)

Emily, I do feel good - except I'm surprised how sore my quads and calves are! I think it has a little (LOT) to do with body sculpting yesterday, but still, wow!

Nancy, I still prefer it slow and easy. I can't wait to get back to group and run with you guys either! I'm thinking not this week, but next - if I can convince myself to wake up :)

From Shelly on Sun, Mar 21, 2010 at 19:19:21 from 67.166.68.81

Wow! I don't know how you do it. Running, biking... just ready your blog makes me tired.

From RAD on Mon, Mar 22, 2010 at 15:11:41 from 67.172.229.125

Shelly, trust me - it's nothing like running a hard 13 miles!
