Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Why do my kids always get sick at night when I have to wake up early??!? My 8 yr old daughter was up at 3 puking this morning. I'm hoping it's just a few hour thing like my son had last week, but either way it really cut into my sleep...this afternoon is going to be difficult!

Went to late miles and got a fun tour of South Jordan. Hung out in the trailing group, we just like the fast people to work harder and have to run extra miles to loop and wait for us. We're really just helping them :)

Afterward I was feeling good (despite tired legs and still sore quads), so I wanted to hit an extra mile. However, I over ran the 'out' and I was at 7.25 when I got back to the car, so I decided I'd round it off to 8. The moon was bright and so I didn't need my headlamp in the dark, and then the sunrise was gorgeous as well! What a beautiful morning. It was just one of those where you feel so good you remember why you love running and you could do it ALL day!

I'm off to the gym for 45 min of personal training and then I'm going to try and spin some of the soreness out of my legs for a little bit on the bike.

Nice job.

Is it really possible to spin the soreness out of your legs?

I hope you get a nap this afternoon and that your daughter is feeling better.

It was a beautiful morning to run, wasn't it? The moon, and the sunrise...it was great. It's amazing to me that we're all so far apart, but we all got to enjoy the same gorgeous full moon and beautiful sunrise.

It reminds me of the song from The American Tail...somewhere, out there, beneath the pale moon light...someone's running with me, and it's feeling so darn right... (okay, I'll stop).

Hope Little L is feeling better soon. Sorry to hear she's sick.

I'm with Carolyn, and I hope you get a chance for a nap today.

Kids have an innate sense of these things. They know when you have something to do and they try to ruin it for you :) good job for making it out though even with the interrupted sleep!

I'm sorry you didn't get enough sleep. I think I would have just slept in instead of running. It was a beautiful morning to run and the temperature was perfect.

Way to go! What's your secret in staying motivated to get out of bed with so little sleep?! I feel like w/two kids under the age of 3, I always have an excuse to not get up early (b/c one/both of them usually wakes up once) and then I kick myself all day for not waking up before they do. Then I have to make up my workout when they go to bed at 8:00pm. I hate that! So...what's your secret?!

Haven't you loved this bright moon?! It has been so lovely since DLS ended. I'm with you! I hope you get some sleep this afternoon if you can. I will always be grateful to be past the sleep deprevation portion of motherhood. P.S. I can't believe you went to the gym AFTER running 8 miles....I am still so sore, just getting better today.

Thanks Paul!

QP- that song reminds me of dad singing :) L's doing much better today and I slept while watching ice age with the kids!

Merri - I wish they'd give up that extra sense!

Nancy - it was a nice morning for a run, I'm glad I came!

E - Secret? it's just really self-hatred :) No, knowing the running group is there and I don't want to miss it is what gets me up. Finding someone to run with and that you know is waiting for you is the best motivation to get up and out!!

Luz, the moon is beautiful! I got a nap while entertaining the kids with a movie :) One GOOD thing about still being in the 'young' phase of motherhood!
