Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:


Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Waking up early wasn't my thing this morning, but I did it anyway. When I peeked out the window to make sure there was sun and not rain, I saw the most beautiful sunrise starting - helped me get out! 

Slow start to the morning. My calves are just SO tight! I need to stretch and roll like crazy, I've already spent 5 min post run stretching them this morning and I'm sure yoga will help too. 

Just a nice easy jaunt, tried not to even think about pace, but just get it done. The hill of death didn't seem so bad today, and when I got to 6 miles I decided to throw in one extra flat mile to the end of my street and back. A BIG change from what I was  feeling/thinking when I started. Lately, I drag to start, but NEVER regret when I'm finished, and feel like I could do more!

AP: 9:34 splits: 10:16, 9:22, 9:12, 9:38, 9:55 (hill of death under 10mm!!), 9:35, 8:59

I hope that last 'add-on' mile shows more of where I'm at than the 10:16 at first. Now I'm done until Saturday morning at the race....well, after yoga and bike/reading time at the gym today :)

Don't feel bad about the 10:16 first mile. My first mile this morning was 10:26 and I'm not pregnant. I always start really slowly. It takes me a while to get going.

Your paces were great today for an easy jaunt. You'll do a great job on Saturday. Just don't push too hard.

Allie, Yup! Ogden was my 'virgin' marathon, kind of sad I can't do it this year. I'm glad I at least get to do the 1/2 for commemoration. I thought about making a good t-shirt saying that involved last years virgin shirt and this year's impending 'situation' :) However, they all came out a bit too racy :)

Carolyn, thanks, it's good to remember others keep it slow at first too! Oh, trust me I'm all about NOT pushing too hard lately :)

KP, yoga was blissful and my calves do feel a bit better now. The bike was easy...I keep it on Level one and don't even break a sweat as I read. I don't think a normal bike could even go that slow and still balance!

QP, Saturday should be fun - but I'm still dreading waking up at 3 to get to the buses in time. Maybe I could stay in Clearfield and sleep in a bit? :)

I guess just a pregnant PR :) Since I finished SLC so close to 2 hrs I'd like to be just under 2 at Ogden, but we'll see if that can happen about mile 9 or so. I'm not making any solid time plans until then!

Watch out for the beast creatures on the death hill. They'll get ya if you're not careful. They come from the east. They are beast creatures from the east... who like to feast... on yeast... to say the least. Yup :)
