Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Today was a backwards day. When my daughter woke up she still had her sore throat and fever she went to bed with, so we went to the doc early and I had to forfeit my gym time :(  -Now I'm trying to avoid adding strep to my excuses to quit exercising!

Spent the mid part of the day the normal way, but then went to the Lehi gym for a late spin class. Got there early to get my 'card' (to secure that YOU have a bike) then went and did 40 minutes of elliptical.

When I was done and got in to the class all the bikes were taken and the only one left didn't have a seat?!? So, despite all my efforts (and driving 18 miles!) I STILL got cheated out of my spin class. I was SO mad - but what could I do? The front desk gave out 2 too many cards so someone else was in the same boat.

I went to the regular bikes and beat that thing into submission and sweated out all my anger!! I'm still drenched :) Got to ellip with a friend from Lehi for 25 minutes and chat with Becca after (she was a lucky one that got a bike!).

So, I guess it was worth it, but still when you can do the same thing 2 minutes away from home it's hard to rationalize spending the extra time and money *sigh* well, lesson learned, and it resulted in an awesome workout all by my own motivation.

Long story summarized:

40 minutes elliptical @ what I am used to calling L10

60 minutes on the upright bike - 18 miles @ L10

You made the best of a rotten situation. Something like that happened once in a spin class I was in, and the teacher gave up his seat...which wasn't a good thing, because he spent the whole class wandering around and "fixing" our tensions while motivating us (read: yelling at us).

You're so high speed you jumped on a bike and yelled the sweat out yourself!

Hope the strep monster stays away!

Devine Miss M - we need to get you mad before a PR attempt at a marathon - you would shatter the mark, likely knock runners off course, knock all the water cups off tables, eat all the gus, hire chiness hackers to disable the chips on all the other runners, instead of giving high fives to the crowd - tell them to get a life, etc. you would be a mad max on the course. ha ha

Nice gym rat workout

You have really good personal motivation. I am glad you were still able to get a good workout in. I hope the sickness in your house goes away quickly.

QP- I've learned how to sweat out demons. Unfortunately, I always have to learn things the hard way :)

Brent- hahaha, that actually isn't a bad idea, and yes - I could see myself doing all that :)

Michelle - Keeping my fingers crossed, so far no one else has even had a hint of sickness! I'm hoping we caught it early enough.

Oooo, I would have been ticked too! Way to stay sweat it out. You probably would have driven home in a rage otherwise!

You had every right to be ticked and I was ticked for you too. You didn't miss much of that class anyway, your bike was a better opt.

I am excited when we start touring Europe with the Trek team. Isn't is awesome that they asked to be a part of the U.S. cycle team? HAHAHA.
