Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:


Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

This is it, I guess I'm done for good :( After being talked into going to the physical therapist, I'm now regretting it - okay not really, but just ugghhh! Either way, as I was giving my history about my hip flexor to the pt he kept shaking his head "I'm really afraid this is a stress fracture and not muscular" more and more tests he did kept coming out the same way... pointing in that general direction. He said there was some muscular stuff going on too, but that it could be a result of me trying to 'limp' through the injury the last 7 weeks.

So, I guess it did have to do with the pregnancy (drop in bone mass seems to be the biggest culprit) just not the stretching of ligaments like we thought. I'm just kind of bummed, but know that this is a good time to rest up and recoup. Since all the tests to confirm or deny a SF can't be done during pregnancy we're treating this as such to be cautious. The PT said that with the stretches he gave me and taking the 'pounding' of running and walking (for exercise) out of the picture that if it is muscular I should be pain free and ready to work back to running in 3 weeks or so. If it's a SF it will be more like 6 weeks until I'm pain free and can start back up with a gradual walking plan :(

So...the waiting game begins; bike elliptical and aqua jogging or swimming are going to be my new blogs. I want to keep up the cardio, especially now that I am starting to regain some energy and aren't throwing up thanks to the zofran. PT says that if all goes well I should be back to getting in 4-6 miles per day and 8-12 on long runs by April. Here's to hoping!!

Went to the gym and did 15 miles on the bike at 3% resistance in 45 minutes. Not too much sweating, my ITB again kicked into high pain mode about 2 minutes into the ride (I also discussed this with the PT and got stuff to do for it). Did the stretching and couple ITB strengthening stuff then headed home (I can only do it on the L side - opposite hip injury because even some of the simple stuff caused pain on hip).

Fun, fun, fun always a fun time when you're pregnant and feeling like your body is falling apart each day. What we go through for our children!! Even before we get to see their beautiful little faces. I love you little one, but please leave me a little bit of a healthy body by the time you're done in there!!

Nancy, I'm glad as well, mixed emotions are always hard and expected right now :) I am grateful that I am able to continue exercising as well, I've never tried with my other ones until I was over the sickness and by then it was hard due to belly size. We're truckin' through!

Devine Miss M - I have no funny bone today, just tired bones from taking care of the puppy. Hey, acqa jogging, if it does not bother you, very relaxing, feel good excercise. Just my take, due date? It seems trying to get back to running in April will be difficult, wait until after the little bundle of joy? One thing about running, always another race, your running buddies will be there for you when you return.

Aww, this is really frustrating. I have to tell you that I am always a little frightened when I go to read your blog. There is always something new going on for you. Tough times. Please try to stay positive. I know about SF's and they are not very fun. Just remember that Xtraining can totally done to your advantage. You should be able to keep your fitness up the next few weeks with the high efforts on the bike and pool running.

Michelle, I hope I'm back before April, but I should be able to get the kind of mileage I want back by then.

Brent, will definitely be doing some aqua jogging. I'm hoping the running will be able to start again in Feb and that by April I will have regained that daily mileage. Being so tall I usually keep most of the 'showing' inside. Even at 9 months along people don't know whether to ask if I'm expecting or if I'm just fat :) Thanks for the encouragement though, we're hangin' tough!

Becca, sorry I've turned into 'horror blog' :) I'm excited to work on my tri-sports though and come back strong in the summer/fall!

But I know you, and you'll find lots of fun things to do while you pass the time, and you'll make new friends doing them.

I think you should consider this your cross training for the triathalon. This is your turn to train on the bike and swim. You've spent the last 2 years on the running, and now it's time to work on the other 2 arms of the tri.

Paining is a good way to workout too, isn't it? Like in karate-kid?

Get some Ionic Fizz (a highly absorbable calcium) and eat lots of greens/kale/spinich/broccoli. Be good to your bones while you are pregant/young or you will be losing your teeth 10 years from now. You're building a baby right now--way more important that running. Plenty of other was to stay healthy wile you're incubating cute little snookums in there. Rest up and build us a cute new FRB friend :)
