Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Slow and painful speed workout. I seriously would like to know where all my speed went, I can't find it....maybe it took a vacation with my motivation!

Met BBK's for early warm-up, only 2.5 miles; but even the warm-up seemed a lot faster than usual. I checked once when I was running with the group and we were at an 8:30 - yeah, too fast for me, so I just hung out in the back of the group and trailed along at a nice 9-9:20. Then we did 4 yasso 800's on the track, each with a 400 recovery. 1st one was very sad at 4:11, the next was better at 4:01, didn't check the time on the 3rd, 4th came in at 3:50 - maybe I'm just not meant to run a BQ marathon....at least not with the way I felt this morning!

Then we hit the road for a 2 mile tempo (I laugh at that...tempo, hahahaha!) then we rested a second got a drink and headed off for another 2 mile 'tempo'. It was all slow today for me. I couldn't finish the workout, because I needed to get home so my hubby could get to work, so I finished up with a cool down back to the track and a lap. Then I spent the time stretching and chatting with Becca. I guess I should've just finished the workout, because Craig was fine with me being late - some days are probably better than others to be 'late' to work :)

I'm done for the day...hoping to get a nap and resolving to start eating better and taking vitamins again. I think the lack of sleep, no long miles on Saturdays, quad/shin injuries, eating like CRAP and just generally not taking care of my body has finally caught up with me. Here's to luring my speed and motivation back from vacation!!

AP: 8:35 splits: 9:18, 9:16, 8:42, 8:40, 8:12, 7:56, 8:15, 8:29, 8:04, 8:59 -wow, okay 1st time I've seen the splits...where the heck did I pull that 7:56 out?? It would've been our first tempo...guess I was feeling a little better :)

Somedays are definitely better than others. If this is a bad day for you then you are doing very well!!!

You are great!

You have had a rough month!!! July is worse than December, I decided. Do not beat yourself up, today was hard for me, too, and I am superwoman so.......KIDDING!

I hope you get a nap!

You know what? I think that you did an awesome job today, even if you say it was a bad one. I agree with Kelli, you have had a hard month, and now you get to start fresh!

Ummm by the way... You WILL run a BQ marathon! Get some rest, by that I mean more that 5 hours of sleep. Remember how you pushed me the entire 10 miles last week? We all have bad days.

RAD- you're being waayyy too hard on yourself! Look at the big picture and where you've come from in the last 2 years. Your extended family is glad you took time off to spend with them, and that you joined them in all of the 9pm dinners and desserts. Reunions don't last forever, and you'll be back on track with your goals before you know it. -QP

Thanks all! I'm sure getting some sleep will help. July is a hard month, but as QP reminded me it was ALL worth it and I'm glad I spent the time I did doing what I did! No big races on the horizon, just running fun so I'll just find a way to sleep more and stop eating a 1/2 gallon of ice cream and a dozen cookies each week...then maybe I can plan a new race!!

Your bad days would be a good day for me. And I agree that July is a hard month. Here's to a better August for all of us!

Devine Miss M - nothing like a mental butt kicker, sure you will be back to top form. Some days are just better than others. Ditto the others, tough to run races, recover, race, etc. It almost seems like you peaked, need some recovery and start the short buildup for TOU.

It didn't look that bad to me at all! Cut yourself some slack! That is one tough workout. You will get your speed back and BQ!!! Get some sleep!

great work out. don't you love how the days you're late your husband needed to leave early. and the days you come home early they don't have to leave for like another hour :) at least that's how it works for me I feel like.

From Nancy on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 11:11:09 from 76.27.11.127

I think you are doing great but I'm sure some sleep would really help. I'm glad you got to spend time with your sisters while they were here.
