Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

What a morning! I was really hoping that I'd get to Lehi and everyone would call it off so I could go home and sleep. But, as soon as I got out of the car and felt the energy of all my friends I was ready to go...snow, hail, slush and all :) We started out and going north had its nasty times: big hills and horizontal snow giving us the much needed 'microdermabrasion' treatment again. The miles were slow, but enjoyable I met and ran most of the first few with Luzy and I had a GREAT time. Smooth caught up to us (didn't realize we were that far ahead) about 2.5 miles and then the miles went even quicker. Saw a few other groups on the trail, and its always nice to know that your not the only crazy runners out there! Stopped for a few minutes to learn some new stretches and potty at 5 miles then headed back to the cars. Running south finally turned pleasant, I think more than once I commented about how happy and comfortable I was!! At the cars we got a drink then headed another 3.5 south. Again it was just great company and miles flying by, but the temp was going up so the snow was turning into slush so I ended up with wet pruny feet. No problems or anything eventful until mile 16 when my left IT bit me! Took 20 seconds to stretch it out then never heard from it again....even now its fine, YEA!! When we got back to the car and I noticed the time on the garmin I was really suprised at the AP - 9:37. I was definately comfortable, but its a little slower than I usually do; however, after missing 4 weekends of long runs I was just happy to get the 17 in! PLUS can you really put a pace on feeling good and having GREAT company the ENTIRE run??? Nope, I'm just loving it all! I did have a GREAT negative split though. I was over a 10 mm (for a few miles) into the snow and up hills, then fell to just over a 9 mm for 6 or so, then dropped to high 8's for the last 2 - got to give myself credit for that.

I had a wonderful time meeting Leslie, Tarzan, Luzy and seeing Smooth and Marion again. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU LADIES!!! I wouldn't have even thought about running today if it wasn't for you all. We need to do this again soon!! I had to take off afterward, because I was late to get home to start work/babysitting so I left muffins and juice and sped home to get to 'work' - I hope you all enjoyed the muffins, I sure did! Ate more than I should have, as usual :)

Sounds like you put in some good miles today, great work. I ran today and the weather wasn't exactly "pleasant," but what can you say? I love that mother nature has blessed us with so much moisture.

It was the funnest 17 miles ever. P.S. It thought we were doing 15. I wondered why I petered out so much toward the end. Great to meet you! I'm glad the snow and slush slowed you down enough to give us a reason to run together! I hope we can do it again before Ogden. You're going to rock! Thanks for the muffins--sorry you missed the post-party. Im in shock you had to work after running. I went home and cried in the tub (JK). You are one tough Star of Egypt :)

Rachel, you're the Star of Egypt, Queen of River Jordan and the Long Legs Princess!!! That was so fun. Thanks for running a negative split with me. Thanks for the muffins. We left the OJ for Les and Maurine. You are such a good person to give your neighbors a break from "fostering". I'm a better person b/c of you and your example. You are gonna do AWESOME at Ogden. I'm glad the IT is OK. That little bite had me worried there. We will have FUN at Ogden!

So great to meet you. Thank you for all the delicious calories from the muffins and orange slices!

Thanks ladies! I had a great run and wish I could've spent more 'party' time with you! However, I know we'll do it again next week, right?? Don't let the 'work' thing throw you. The kids are 13-14 and pretty much hang out with my kids and its the easiest thing ever! I just have to be home to keep the peace and do some 'teaching moments' when issues come up :)

oh, I think I like 'long legs princess' hehehe - I might have to change my blog :)

Luzy, I'm sorry you didn't know we were going 17!! When we go to PR you can tack on a couple extra for us :) or hey, maybe you'll be moved by then :)

I'm glad you are feeling well enough to go that many miles. I was sure glad our half/marathon was last weekend when it wasn't snowing.

I hate reading these posts. It makes me feel like a SLUG!

I am glad you had fun and you did great. I think your avg pace was great for the conditions yesterday. It was so cold and windy. GREAT JOB!

Devine Miss M - one of the delights of running, running buddies, nothing like a long to lift the spirits.

What is your running group called? St.George has the sole sistas. Such a fine group of running deserves a fitting handle.

Rachel is gone all day today, Brent, so I will answer your question!! The group she ran with Saturday has officially names themselves the Red Hot Pink Chicks. She also runs Tuesday and Thursday with the BBK's (the Bingham Butt Kickers). Rachel is an awesome runner, she is getting so fast!

Thanks Kelli for keeping my blog up while I'm gone :) I really missed my 'afternoon fix' of the internet today :) I may need to go to an 'internet annonymous' group soon!
