Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

okay - the plan. I'm now going to try and maintain 35-40 miles/week this month and get this foot under control. Then I will have 7 weeks until Ogden to build from 16 - 22 miles to not die at the marathon. I think this is the best plan I can take right now. So, my daily miles will be low, but I think in the long run it will be best. sigh.

4 miles on the TM with Kelli. Oh how I love a nice leisurely stroll on the TM while chatting with Kelli! She is amazing. 1% incline, 8:34 for the first mile - except the last  quarter I went to 8:00 while Kelli took a quick pop stop - 8:27 for the 2nd mile, 8:20 for the 3rd mile, The 4th mile I went progressive every quarter, until the last one I went every .05 to end at 7:30mm. (TT: 33:45 AP: 8:26) I really didn't feel fatigued or taxed at all during the run. All good signs! Foot is there, not horrible, but lets me know it is there.

Spin class. Not my favorite teacher, but a good workout.

Home and Ab ripper X for some fun.

I then had 30 min till the clothes were done washing so I decided to go do the recumbent bike I'm 'renting' from my neighbor for a bit and read - just until the clothes were done, then I'd shower. HA! Finally got into my book and had to just keep going. 75 minutes later I got to a decent stopping point :) I'm now paying .15/day for the book, because it is on a long wait list at the library and I can't renew it. I'm almost half way done. "Unbroken" interesting true story!

Glad to see you mixing up your workouts a bit at home too. You're so smart to listen to the foot! I love that you biked when reading and waiting for the wash. WAY to multi-task! Good work, Rach! :)

I think your plan is good (no sense in getting injured). I will assume those miles were adjacent to Kelli (however that would be quite the feet of mechanics and coordination).

I agree with Chad, this run plan thing sounds great! I think you really have a great shot at Ogden to do what you need to do. Build slowly and let your body get stronger.

That book is so AMAZING!!! Worth the 15 cents a day.

p.s. I really miss you. :p

Marathon Monday workout!!! Nice job and I agree that the plan sounds very smart.

The soft tissue damages are buggers. Just plain buggers!!!!! Just remember, there will always be races! Always...we live in Utah! Take it slow sister!

you have plenty of time before ogden. as has already been said -- just take it slowly! all the best to your foot.

I still can't see how anyone can read a book while using any exercise equipment. Nice job.

You are already fast and back in shape! Nice!!

From The Quiet Pirate on Tue, Mar 06, 2012 at 07:59:25 from 152.26.59.252

I found that 35-40 miles a week was good for my knee, and I managed a pr with it.

I think you can do less, just make them count, and you'll find success!

From RAD on Tue, Mar 06, 2012 at 12:23:33 from 98.202.23.178

Smooth, these days are all about multi-tasking, right? :)

Chad, yes, we were on the same TM :) No, we'd kill each other!

Becca, so far I'm not regretting the .15/day! :)

Rachelle, it really stinks to only post 4's everyday, but on the upside the workouts seem nice and easy!

Merri, oh whatever! 4 measley miles? yeah...totally NOT impressive! :)

Toby, I'm trying not to count the eggs before they hatch, it is just hard not to!

Allie, worse has happened this year, so I guess I am okay with 4/day...for a little bit!

Nancy, the recumbent bike is easiest! You're sitting down anyway.

Steam, not sure either holds true, but it is a lot better than it was 4 weeks ago!!

QP, I'm hoping lower mileage will be the key - I'll put it to the test :)
