Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Tried out a new 7 mile course today. Downhill to start and finish, and hills in the middle. I don't know why, but when I can do hills in the middle and not my 'hill of death' back home, they seem SO much easier! I'll definitely have to try this one again.

AP:  8:55 splits: 8:53, 8:29, 9:01, 9:26, 9:24, 9:03, 8:10, 5:54 (for 30 feet beyond the mile mark until I hit the stop button :) I normally wouldn't include it, but at that pace I just had to!). Slower than the harder hills yesterday, but I didn't go out with speed on the brain either...more of a GA run today.

Tired this morning...I really need to start heading to bed earlier.

Now of to total body fitness class (resistance with a light cardio mix), then I may hit a few extra miles on the TM. Especially if Kelli is hanging around doing the same after her personal training :)

Is everyone going to be doing either Hobble Creek or PC this weekend? I'm looking for about 16 miles....

***total body class was a nasty one today, the teacher LOVES to work shoulders like nobody's business and was true to form today - at least it wasn't legs! Then I hit the TM for another 3.2 miles at an AP of 9:20. Had to start slow, but finished with 20 seconds at a 7:30 pace. How in the WORLD did I ever run a 1/2 Mary faster than that?!?***

Sounds like a good 7 miler. Great running Rachel.

I'm with you on the needing more sleep thing. That's one of my big problems.

From The Quiet Pirate on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 12:55:55 from 152.26.59.252

hey, your pace looks the same as Carolyn's this morning. It's a nice one. Glad the hills weren't your enemy today.

Sorry, won't be doing the Creek this week-end. Have fun with it :-)

From Tom Slick on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 15:20:50 from 168.179.157.36

Wow Woman, you really are throwin' down the miles. And thats a good thing. If you just keep at it the natural result is you will become stronger and faster! Just continue to "Run Smart"!

From Scott Wesemann on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 15:44:01 from 66.239.250.209

Looks like a really good week so far. Good to see you back at it again :)

From RAD on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 16:18:49 from 67.172.229.125

Cal, thanks! I was thinking about running up to Yellow Fork and back Thursday, I'll be slow, but would love some company if you don't have other plans.

Lily, gotta get it back up there so I don't die at SGM! I don't think I would ever be fast enough to keep up with you, you'd have to run slow for me :)

QP, Carolyn and I have had the same pace a couple times these past weeks. I hope I can catch some of her speedy-ness! It's always fun to hobble down the creek :)

Slick, slowly but surely I'm getting there! Increasing less than 10% per week to avoid injury.

Scott, it is going GREAT! I'm loving the runs more and more - even when it 'hurts'!

From Calvin on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 16:26:17 from 66.133.117.3

What time are you thinking about Yellowfork on Thursday? Maybe we should launch the HBK's that day.

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 16:30:08 from 71.219.102.155

Hmmmm.....just when I grilled everyone in the BBK's to see if anyone was going to show up Thursday so I would not be alone (they are all running Hobblecreek, or most of them anyway). Maybe I will have to rethink, but Yellow For is HHHHAAARRRDDD (that was a whine). What time? I have to be showered and ready to go by about 8-8:30.

Great pace this morning, and that 30 feet totally counts and should be mentioned! Sorry I did not run with ya, glad Wendy was there.

From RAD on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 16:41:08 from 67.172.229.125

I have to be home by 7:30, so since it's 7+ (Cal, you probably know better than I) We should probably leave the 'hood around 6:15-6:30 ish. Kelli, that would get you home by 7:40 if you left my house at 7:30 :) Oh, and it was your email about no one being there that got me thinking about an HBK inaugural run.

From Calvin on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 16:44:04 from 66.133.117.3

It's almost exactly 7.0 from my house to the end of the pavement up the canyon. Ideally i'd like to be back by 7:30 also, so something like 6:15 would probably work well.

From RAD on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 16:53:14 from 67.172.229.125

Shall we say 6:15 at the 4-way stop on Blayde and Cora? Then if we run fast (hahaha for ME!) you could add one or two on if you need. I'll be topped out on my miles for the week and ready for yoga and to take Friday off! :)

From Calvin on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 17:03:41 from 66.133.117.3

Count me in.

From RAD on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 17:09:44 from 67.172.229.125

excellent! I'll see you there. Maybe we should become the HHC - Herriman Hill Climbers :)

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 17:27:08 from 71.219.102.155

Oh the peer pressure!!!!

Rachel, are you going to loan me a scooter so I can get to my house in 10 minutes?

From RAD on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 17:34:36 from 67.172.229.125

hehe - it's downhill, I think your feet will take you that fast :)

You should come Kelli...everyone is doing it...if you're cool you'll come...You know you wanna...

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 17:41:02 from 71.219.102.155

Fantastic run Rachel! I hope you are feeling good and getting plenty of rest!

From Bec on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 23:02:55 from 76.23.55.210

I REALLY like what I see from this workout! You are back, love it! One of these weekends I MIGHT be able to run a long one with you. That is my goal anyway.

I was thinking about PC Marathon today and the fun we had running that with Smooth. Good times. It was fun staying in that little condo too.

From Nancy on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 08:16:50 from 76.27.19.206

Great job with the running and total body class.

From Tom Slick on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 08:38:10 from 168.179.157.36

Well Ms. RAD, its wednesday...what did you do?

From KP on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 10:12:05 from 65.208.22.26

you are getting in some awesome mileage, rachel!

From Kelli on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 20:16:15 from 71.219.102.155

Rachel and Cal, unfortunately the BUS is now leaving an hour earlier than I thought so we can get my two little one to grandmas, so I will not be able to make it tomorrow for the inaugural run---DANG!!!!!! I am bummed. Do not have too much fun without me and let's plan another one soon.

Oh, and Rachel you should see if you can hook up with Wendy for your run this weekend. Not sure how many miles she had planned, but she will be on her own.

From RAD on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 23:38:38 from 67.172.229.125

Kelli, I'm a little bummed I'll miss you tomorrow! However, I understand about getting out and getting on your way. We'll do it again some time!

On Tuesday Wendy and I discussed Saturday and we're both out for 16! So, we decided to make concrete plans tomorrow. I'm SO glad I'll have some company! I'll keep her on her toes and be a decent fill in coach for you :)

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 19, 2010 at 09:43:53 from 71.219.102.155

Don't have too much fun without me on Saturday, I might get replaced!!!
