Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Met BBK's for a nice hill workout - Lamptonview Lane. Nice warm-up and was actually feeling well enough to hang with Becca and a slow Walter :) Then we did a 4.5 mile loop down to Parkway Palisades and back. I really thought I'd get out of those hills today! Felt good hanging with the lead group; however, I realized later that it was a lot slower than they usually go. Again I'm foiled with their tapering/recovery runs! Felt strong on the hills until I stopped for a minute to 'regroup' - then the hills back to the church seemed a lot harder and slower, and I started about 50 yds back from the lead pack, but I never let them get away from me! Did about 1.5 of recovery miles with Peggy, then turned to go back to get home in time for hubby to get to work. Decided I was going to push the last bit (mimic running on tired legs) and I was pleasantly surprised with the pace that last .11 (6:26 mm). Great run, felt strong, but realized I was a little slow for my effort - so I concluded I'm still lacking a little from Park City, but all in all ready hit it hard this week!! ITB's were fine - stupid things!!! UUUGGGHHHH!!!

*Forgot to post this* AP:  8:35 splits: 9:01, 8:35, 8:52, 8;14, 7:55, 8:19, 8:17, 8:21, 8:55, 9:31, 6:26 (for the last .11 :) )

Came home and got my little dude off to his first day of Kindergarten. He is so stinkin' excited!! Went to the gym for my first group training (with a personal trainer) and I forgot how much they kick your butt! I must remember to eat first. Ended with walking a 30% incline for 10 minutes, VERY slow :)

Please pardon me for the next little bit, I'm trying to get into a routine and get things settled at home; so I don't feel like I have the time I'd like to read/comment on blogs. I'm not ignoring you, I'm thinking of you...just trying to manage my time better!

You were awesome at group today! Good girl to get things in order. Not so much time blogging? Hmmm. Maybe I should follow your lead on that one.

Awesome run this morning, Rachel. I can't believe how quickly you're recovering from PC.

From Bec on Tue, Aug 25, 2009 at 23:21:16 from 67.177.35.60

Carolyn,

She has recovered from PC very quickly. You should have seen her ZOOM down the hills today at group run. We need to tape her ITBs up for TOU. There is a lot of steam in that girl that needs to be let out on the race course, and those ITBs are holding her back!

Thanks all! I think I've felt like a little bit of a slacker the last 6-8 weeks and now with the season running out, I've decided it's now or never! Push or be pushed out.

Oh, Thanks Bec...for picking up the slack on my blogging! :)

You are awesome Rachel! I hope you enjoy your personal training group!

I understand scaling back on the blogging, we all have busy lives! We know you love everybody!

You got the house cleaned and the kids back in school, hopefully you have some more Rachel time!!!

I missed the personal training part----I was thinking the same thing about food. I forget how you need that for those workouts. I was lightheaded and felt like I was going to hit the ground a few times!

I'm super impressed at how fast you're back at it after a marathon Saturday! Good job!

I like your attitude about the running season. Just think of it this way...About two and a half more weeks and we get a nice, deserved taper, we then rock TOU, and then we do not have to run for awhile (unless we want to). Stay motivated! Let's let the next few weeks kick us into hard gear.
