Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Met the BBK group for their Tuesday run this morning and boy did I forget what it was like to run with those speedy people!! We did 4 nice warm up miles - then the fun began. Taking 2 weeks easy sure helped with my speed today, but I pooped out on the last 2 miles of sprint/recovery. My left IT came back to haunt me and my energy was spent :(

After warm up Peggy had us run around a block that was probably around a .25 mile 4-sided. We would run 4 sides hard then recover 4 sides, run 3 sides hard recover 3 sides...etc 4-1 twice. I kept up at the front which was fun (everyone must've been pooped from Sat runs, because I never get to be at the front) and Peggy would wait up for me a few times on the recoveries to chat about my trip, she was doing great...I could hardly breathe, let alone talk! After that I thought we were done, so I was running a little extra to even out. Boy was I wrong! We ran about a quarter to another block about .5 around then did 1/2 the block sprint (up hill of course) then recover the other 1/2 - 4 times. This is where I pooped and regained my rightful position at the back of the pack. Oh well, I feel like I got a great workout in and it really re-invigorated me to keep training. I've kind of been a little off -mentally- lately with running, so I guess I needed a good break and then a good workout to show me I could still do it.

After getting home and getting all the kids off to school went to the gym and did 20 minutes on the bike and then resistance -while chatting with Kelli, so it took a little longer :) I definately felt like I got a good full body workout today and am now ready for my nap.

My AP for the 11 this morning was 8:31 - I had 3 splits under 8 (7:37 was the best full mile) and my best momentary pace was 5:32. Not too shabby for just getting back into it, huh? Okay, I'll admit it, thats good for me on a good day :)

Rachel, I was thinking about you on my run this morning: "I'll bet Rachel is all rejuvenated after her cruise and she is in tip top shape to take her training up a notch." Looks like I am RIGHT!!! You're speedy this morning, taking the lead in the pack. 11 miles is a lot with speed work and hills mixed it. GOOD JOB and great workout afterward.

Great job. I enjoyed visiting with you before I had to go to work this morning.

It was nice to see you this morning, glad your back. I am not running Riverton. I'm going to try a trail race out on Antelope Island on SAt. I hope i don't run into any Buffalos! I will hopefully be at group next week if I can walk!

5:32???? Wow. You really did great this morning, really. Mentally I am never there, so you are way ahead of me!

Smooth- Thanks and I am so happy to be back, but I'm not used to the early mornings yet (had to nap this afternoon. Oh, and the 'uphill' wasn't really a hill, it just wasn't downhill or flat. Did I mention how much I LOVE hills (can you hear the sarcastic tones??)

Nancy - I think I'll try to bring Lucy on Thursday if it isn't too cold and wet (salty roads don't mix with her paw pads well). I can't wait to run with you on Sat, I'm assuming you're running Riverton...I think you said something about that this morning.

Nancy R - Is the antelope island race the 50 K??? If it is good luck! I can't believe you can kick butt in Moab then turn around and run a 50 K the next week. I'd be resting and eating lots of icecream to 'carb load' :)

Kelli- my 5:32 was my best pace, so maybe for like 2 seconds at most! I know I wasn't running that fast constantly. Peggy posted her splits for the 4 sides and they were low sixes so I think I may have been in the upper sixes, but I need someone to teach me how to use my garmin to see my pace on those short tempo runs. You know if you didn't have all those blisters and didn't nearly die at Moab you'd be kicking my butt!! It was just a decent morning for me and everyone else was slacking :) (excuses, excuses)

Devine Miss M - time to leave the champagne, suntans, massages, and the good life behind. Time for the better life, chasing your running buddies around in circles, great fun.

Rachel, NO EXCUSES. You just ruled today! It was a great day for you!!! Bask in the glory.
