Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

I really don't think that one should feel this good after a 22 miler at a pace only seconds (5) off their goal pace for the marathon, after a full hard week of training to boot (oh, and just having a baby 12 weeks ago). I may need to change my goal a little bit...

I was SO happy to have tons of people to run with! Staci (Smooth's fun running buddy) led us around the construction, Chad was there to finish off his training for TOU, and Cal, Becca and Annette and I were along for the 22 mile ride. Honestly, it really doesn't get much better than today.

I had a great run, with great people, lots of big lies, fun times to be had all along the way (even nearly tripping on a SKUNK in the dark!), and even had our own personal cheering section on the way home (thanks Chad!). I REALLY hope I feel this good at mile 22 in three weeks.

Things really are just seeming to come together quite well for me, and I'm SO glad I have great people to keep me motivated and moving.

AP: 8:50 splits: 9:43, 8:57, 8:39, 8:34, 9:17, 9:28, 8:46, 9:00, 8:45, 8:46, 9:00, 8:57, 9:04, 8:46, 8:39, 8:42, 8:57, 9:03, 8:36, 8:34, 8:18, 7:55 (What the?!? How did I go progressive those last 5 miles and END under 8? Wow, that really surprises me! I guess those really WERE magic beans :) )

*oh, as a side note I keep finding more and more bloggers that live in my house :) Okay, not MY house, but the same house plan by the same builder. Shout out to all the FRB's: fieldstonerunningbloggers.com  :) *

Yo baby, doesn't it feel good when a plan comes together!!!!! Congrats on surpassing your wildest dreams and putting it all together for SGM just 12 weeks post kid delivery. What a way to put a PPPPPP together. Now get into your taper, watch your nutrition and get all the extra sleep you can between now and Oct 2nd. And don't go and get too good and fast, I couldn't take it if you chicked me at the finish line!!!!

From Smooth on Sat, Sep 11, 2010 at 15:32:38 from 174.23.160.38

Rachel!!!! WOWEEE!!! YEE HAW!!!! You're AWESOME!!! EXCELLENT job on your last 22 miler and finishing so STRONG w/ a 7:55. WAY to finish a huge week and only 12 weeks post partum. I am so happy and so excited for you! CONGRATZ!!!

Slick, it really does feel good! I'm getting a little too neurotic about nutrition I think. I've lost 5 pounds the last couple weeks, but haven't ever really been hungry. Good news for the knees, bad news for baby (well, not so far, but it worries me).

Smooth, thanks SO much lady! I had a wonderful time with Staci this morning. Thanks SO much for sending her my way! She is going to easily reach her SGM goal.

awesome. what a great confidence builder heading into SGM. you are going to do so well. sounds like it was a super fun morning. and skunk! hahaha!

From RAD on Sat, Sep 11, 2010 at 16:19:45 from 67.172.229.125

Oh Allie, you would've died! The skunk was belly-up in the middle of the trail! It was so dark that we nearly ran into it, and since you couldn't smell it chances are if you kicked it, it would probably spray all over you. Not to mention it was all bloated. The real question is how/why did it die in the middle of the parkway?!?

From Kelli on Sat, Sep 11, 2010 at 17:03:05 from 71.219.102.155

Great job, Rachel! That is awesome that you were feeling so well with that LONG run!!! I do agree with you, that pace goal is way too conservative. You are running strong! Just based on your 10k pace from Monday, Sahsa's little race predictor is looking more like under 3:30 (but no pressure or anything).

Nice, nice splits!! Great progression run! You are very ready!

From The Quiet Pirate on Sat, Sep 11, 2010 at 20:54:54 from 65.191.108.72

What? You found a dead puffy skunk and didn't take a picture for me? What kind of a sister are you?????

Oh, right...you're busy kickin trash and running awesome for your sgm training. Your run sounds wonderful. Congrats!

BUT next time, I want pictures ;-)

From Scott Wesemann on Sun, Sep 12, 2010 at 01:30:15 from 75.162.85.220

Very nice run today Rad. Are you doing St. George?

From Calvin on Sun, Sep 12, 2010 at 09:05:24 from 66.182.67.50

Great job on your run Rachel! You're going to run great at SGM. Thanks for all your work on organizing a fun training run for us.

From RAD on Sun, Sep 12, 2010 at 17:24:59 from 67.172.229.125

Kelli, I've noticed the 3:30 and honestly it scares the PEE out of me! I don't think I can do it...

artichoke, thanks, I'm feeling good, but the butterflies are creeping up pretty bad!

QP, I AM such a bad sister. I didn't even think about it, I had my phone and everything - shoot! Next time I will make sure to get a pic. When it was light and we were coming back, she looked like a cute little thing, not smashed or anything. We are still wondering why she just killed over!

Scott, yup! SGM is next...

Cal, anytime! I enjoy the company SO much, it makes time fly by!

From Nancy on Sun, Sep 12, 2010 at 18:09:13 from 76.27.19.206

Wow you are awesome!! I'm sure you will do great at the SGM.

From Chad on Mon, Sep 13, 2010 at 10:03:57 from 168.177.153.5

That regret of the missed skunk picture opportunity reminds me of a sequence in one of the Fabelhaven books. Seth is really upset at himself for throwing away a zombie hand that he cut off. It would have made a great keepsake. (Anybody else like those books as much as I do?)

Anyway, thanks for inviting me along. I had a good time meeting everyone. It's always better to run with friends.

From Bec on Tue, Sep 14, 2010 at 15:26:41 from 67.172.233.189

Our run on Saturday deserves tripple smiley faces. :) :) :)!!!! That was the best run I have had in a long time. RAD, you truly cool me when I run. That run made my top 5 long runs list. In fact, it might be #1 or #2.

Thank you for always keeping a witty conversation going amoung the runners. It's really calming to listen to other runners while you are running beside them.

I had no idea that was our AP. I don't know what your goal is for SGM but I think you can aim it higher than an 8:45. Try like an 8:22. I really think after a good taper those legs, including your IT bands, will respond positively. Why not try to BQ my friend?
