Very Aggravated....! 65 Degrees at race time. I feel like I've wasted a lot of time and now money on a race that won't turn out good.

Bummer about the weather. That's always a trick to hit the perfect conditions when your at your peak fitness. Your workouts [at least the few that I've seen] have looked great. I would bet you're looking at a big PR anyway. Of course you'll always know you could have run a few minutes faster with ideal conditions. My fastest marathon had the worst [well maybe 2nd worst] conditions of any that I have run. You can't help but wonder what could have been.
Hope the weatherman is wrong and you end up with a great day. Either way I think you're going to kill it.

Dave,
I can tell you...it won't be good. I don't do well when the temperature is this high. I'm sure I'll overheat. I'll probably just lower my goal to just below BQ time and hope for the best!

I don't know, man. I ran in 62 degrees yesterday, and it felt pretty good to me. Try to stay away from the negative self-fulfilling prophecies. If you think you are going to do poorly, aren’t you making that outcome certain? I’m hanging on with hopes that I’ll be healthy for a 5k next weekend. Easier said than done, but I’m trying to focus on the process, rather than the race.
All of that aside, your paces lately are crazy fast! Temperature is just one part of the equation. I can’t control when I catch a cold, and you can’t control the weather. Sometimes it all comes together, sometimes not.

I lack the experience and knowledge to advice but I agree with Dave s and Tom K. U gonna do greater than you think and that might not be the best pr but it's one. I better see some money in the bank on Sunday lol. good luck on sunday I will be checking for updates

At the 11 5 mile mark, some will turn left & some will turn right ... Will Preston go left or right? I think there will be barricades that will prevent you from going straight. :)

Switching to the half isn't a bad idea, or turn it into a training run with the second half at MGP. 70 degrees and 90% humidity is no joke, and when the sun hits it will only get worse. If it's cloudy there is always a chance, and I BQ'd at Austin in similar conditions and with running into a stiff wind at the end. But the sun stayed away that day. It's good to go in with your plan intact, but be prepared with a second plan if isn't going well. That's the vexing thing about the marathon, all the eggs go into one basket. Anyway, Boston is the prize, so keep your eyes on that race. Don't beat yourself up on this one - the training for Boston needs to start next month. Good luck, IJR!

I'm seriously thinking about switching to the Half...

Personally, with a 73 deg start temp, 90% humidity, and 70 deg dewpoint, I would probably opt for the half! Just ask yourself, will I benefit more from racing a half or surviving tough marathon conditions? I think there is no question a fast 13.1 would be a more beneficial training run for your body ... however that is not to say there is not psychological benefit from pushing 26.2 in heat & humidity ... just be careful if you go that route & hydrate lots either way! Good luck!
