Another good day on the track but a little tougher than last week. Aerobically I struggled a little more on these 800's even though my legs were fine.

These repeat were a little difficult near the end. I had to take a little more time to recover after the 4th one. Legs were good but aerobic was tough.

Sweet - amazing times. I think you have the fast twitch muscles like me, which is great for the short stuff but no so much for the marathon. Oh well, it just means we have to try/work/train harder to develop the slow twitch muscles. :-) But it can be done.

From SlowJoe on Wed, Feb 08, 2012 at 11:01:43 from 132.3.53.68

Yeah those are great repeats, I'm certain I would not have been able to keep up with you today.

I'm actually thinking of doing some 800s on Friday - I'll be lucky to keep it under 3:00

From I Just Run on Wed, Feb 08, 2012 at 11:22:52 from 67.79.11.242

I really wanted to drop the pace to 2:50 or less but have decided to stick close to the recommended training times since I in my taper and I don't want to over-run right now.

Love 800's!

Lily,

As fast as you are I bet you do love 800's....!!!

From rAtTLeTrAp on Wed, Feb 08, 2012 at 11:55:47 from 24.18.125.122

All that speedwork makes me tired just reading about it. Great job!

From Dasha on Wed, Feb 08, 2012 at 13:50:20 from 24.206.78.53

Great job on these - they are very consistent! Good speed on warm up and cool down also!

I always feel like I struggle aerobically on the track. Not sure what that means.

From I Just Run on Wed, Feb 08, 2012 at 14:26:51 from 67.79.11.242

Dasha,

I am curious what it will be like when I go through a training cycle like this again. All my running before this 18 week program was run slow, run fast, run short, run long and different combindations of this. (I've been running about 1-1/2 years) Nothing was on the track and at these speeds and with specific goals in mind.

From Rye on Wed, Feb 08, 2012 at 15:44:53 from 75.174.35.187

Great times Preston! Way to stay focused on your training. You should write a book!

From I Just Run on Wed, Feb 08, 2012 at 18:24:57 from 67.79.11.242

Rye,

Ha ha ... It would all be plagiarized from "Run Less Run Fast". I just feel like a guinea pig!

From Dasha on Wed, Feb 08, 2012 at 18:50:00 from 24.206.78.53

Which training program are you following?

From I Just Run on Wed, Feb 08, 2012 at 19:29:14 from 166.147.76.95

It's directly from the book "Run Less Run Fast". I don't know anyone else that is using it. It's so contrary to most runners philosophy its hard to buy into and its not really a program you can take via and pieces from and do much good. I kinda think its an all or nothing training program. It was suggested by JG on the blog. I've taken all the help offered on the blog since I have no other help or training avenues.

From Dave S on Wed, Feb 08, 2012 at 19:41:22 from 4.254.225.210

Great job! Those are some nice fast splits!!

From TexasLindsey on Wed, Feb 08, 2012 at 20:00:55 from 71.154.11.225

Good workout! Those are some fast times!!

From Steam8 on Thu, Feb 09, 2012 at 11:40:44 from 166.70.55.77

Nice speed work IJR. I'm going to hit the track next week and make myself do them.....even if I have dead legs! You are really getting fast!
