No run today although I felt like I could have... I think I have some sort of swelling in my hip joint that, when it swells like at night, causes it to be much more sore. I believe the ibuprofen reduces the swelling and keeps it from hrting. So...That's the diagnosis from Dr. IJR... :-)

I'm going to stay on the ibuprofen for a few days and see if that helps the healing by hopfully reducing the swelling. I'm temped to run a couple of miles and see how it feels tomorrow.

Luke 14

1 One Sabbath, when Jesus went to share a meal in the home of one of the leaders of the Pharisees, they were watching him closely. 2 A man suffering from an abnormal swelling of the body was there. 3 Jesus asked the lawyers and Pharisees, “Does the Law allow healing on the Sabbath or not?”

Ibuprofen reduces swelling huh...yep you are definitely a doctor!

Well, that sounds like good news anyway. I'm definitely a fan of loading up on nsaids when something goes wrong - I hope it continues to work for you. Frusturating, I'm sure...

Yikes! I expected to see your miles back in the teens today. I had hip pain for about 8 months. BURSITIS is what the orthopedic surgeon said. Have you read anything about that? Do you think that could be the culprit? Ibuprofen helps for just about everything for me! I would take it everyday if it wouldn't give me holes in my stomach! :)

I'll send you a case of Ibuprofen ... see you in Boston! :)

Hey Steam

Did the doctor say to stop running or keep running? ...If it is bursitis...

From Dan on Mon, Aug 01, 2011 at 23:21:31 from 24.209.83.20

And you said your blog was boring, all kinds of stuff going on. I have been taking a few different things before my runs to manage some pain, but I got the ok to do so. I am sorry to see you ailing like this. I need to get you on the prayer list.

Dan...Please Do...!!!

JG...I'm very tempted to just start taking enough and keep running...!

Joe...I'm just a wealth of information arn't I :-)

Sorry to hear you're still having problems. I've have a chronic problem with one of my hips too that comes and goes all the time. The doc told me he thought it was bursitis also [but not during an official visit]. Mine usually clears up better with easy running and ibuprofen. Fast miles always make mine worse and with no running it stays the same. A couple of times though when it's been real bad I've been forced to take days off. I don't know how much vitamin I you are taking now, but I have found that at times 400 mg per dose dosen't do much and 800 mg will make a huge difference. Just make sure you take it with plenty of food.

From Steam8 on Wed, Aug 03, 2011 at 00:03:09 from 166.70.55.77

Be careful taking the 800mgs!

Unfortunately, the doc told me not to run. He sent me to a PT and it had already been almost 2 months of not really running. The PT said I could start running after a week of exercises that would strengthen things up and only run one minute at a time. I (of course) didn't listen and started running one mile at a time. He did tell me that I shouldn't run every day only every other because your body doesn't have enough time to recover if you are running every day. I have followed that advice. My hip has stopped hurting. I had terrible pain for 8 months. I couldn't lay on my side and if anything pushed up against my hip it would send shooting pains everywhere. Hurt like heck! I will put you on my prayer list.

So sorry! You were just pumping out the miles! I know how it feels! :( Prayers your way and I am sure you'll be back at it soon. I have MS and was told to not have any more children after my second child. After the diagnosis, I ran one mile crying while I dragged my left leg. Look at me after innumerable prayers and fasting....two more kids and I qualified for Boston. Thanks for your daily scriptures. Keep pumping them out and motivating all of us to remember what is really important. Running is just a bonus in life!

Gooooood Luck on your roping comp! I am sure you will be amazing! I am hoping for some big prize money for you! :)

Thanks Dave & Steam for the advice and encouragement,

I'm really hoping thing start to get better very quickly. I really, really, really don't want to go to the doctor to get it checked out! I think I need to stay on a regiment of ibuprophen for a few days. I've only been taking them sporadically so far (a couple a day). I don't think all of the riding has helped but I've got to get ready for the regional team roping finals next weekend.

Our bodies are amazing creations and can do much more than we think they can...we don't expect that much from them so that's why typically underachieve in every aspect of life!
