For some reason I haven't been able to post any "Comments" on my Blog through my phone...? I can post comments to other people's Blogs, just not mine so over the weekend I only posted "0" mileage and no other details. Anyway, nothing has changed on my knee except it continues to feel better. At times it feels 100% other times the top inside around the kneecap and quad feel tight and hurt quite a bit. I 've been looking into this and I think it has something to do with my Vastus Medialis (Quad) were it ties to my knee cap. I can hold it in a certain direction for a while and the pain goes completely away, other times I'll be sitting doing nothing in a comfortable position and when I move it, it's tight. Tomorrow I'm going to start going to the gym every day and working anything that doesn't hurt :-)

Now to the important stuff...

This weekend Sarah (my wife) and I went to Tuscaloosa, Al to see Callie (our daughter) compete in the National Collegiate Triathlon Finals. This was a cool meet. I think they had about 2,000 college competitors. This was Callie's first full triathlon. She has only competed in two sprint triathlons (both in the last month). All in all Callie did well for not really being able to training properly for this type of competition. She had a stress fracture in her ankle that kept her from running for several months and school work that kept her from really trainning hard. She was just released to run up to 6 miles and can only do that slow. She is actually a very strong runner. She is also new to biking and swimming but been improving quickly in both of these events over the past few months. I suspect by next year she will improve her performance significantly...she is a very determined girl... :-) ... and I'm a proud Dad...!

Congrats to your daughter, sounds like a fun weekend.

I think strengthing that quad muscle will help. When I started doing exercises for it, I only extended the last 30 degrees or so (with weight) until the leg was straight to avoid aggravating it, but it still did the trick. Glad it is feeling better.

Thanks SJ....I'm still hoping for OKC in the back of my mind!

Hope that knee starts to cooperate for you soon. I think that's a good idea to get to the gym and do some cross training. You've got a great base and some cross training would help you keep it during this down time. I've had injuries hit during important parts of my marathon training a few times and was able to keep my fitness pretty good through a lot of biking and was still able to have pretty decent races. I think pool running would be even better if you have access to that and it doesn't hurt.

Congrats to your daughter and happy healing.

Thanks Dave for the good words... I have been off from running for about 10 days. I'm still hoping I can get back into some training in the next week or so and have a week or so of mild to medium training before OKC on May 1st. I don't know how much endurance I will have lost if this plan works but that's my plan...

Congratulations to your daughter. Just curious, is the triathlon an official NCAA event? It should be if it isn't, those distances are perfect for college-age kids.

Hey Flatlander,

I don't think it's an NCAA event...I think it's more of a club event...but not really sure, we're completly new to this and don't know much. I'll tell you some of the kids were really "spent" at the end. Some passed out and others threw-up... :) It was really cool to watch (not just the end...)
