8.5 miles on the TM in the hot gym today. I was planning on running on the elliptical but  two out of three were broken and someone beat me to the one that worked.

You should be confident.

Your goal is to break 3:20 in the marathon, right? Okay, well that would translate into a 1:36:09 Half. You JUST beat that at Austin, like, 2 weeks ago (and did it on a bum knee)! Want more? Okay, 1. Your knee is on the mend, right? 2. Your race pace at Cowtown should be under 7:38 / mile, and you are very consistently hitting that mark on your training runs. 3. If 3:20 is your goal, your easy / long runs should be somewhere @ 8:40 pace. You JUST DID a 14 miler @ 7:47 pace! 4. You still have 4 WEEKS!

I think it’s natural to think the sky is falling as you close in on race day. But, You’ve got this, man!

I agree 100% with everything Tom said, but would add:

1) While 3:20 may be a goal, & I think you are certainly capable of that, 3:30 is what you need to BQ ... so I would focus on that ... then you can run 3:15 either in the fall or at Boston! So that is an 8:00 pace, just hit Cowtown half at 1:44 or 1:45, and then allow yourself to gradually pick up if you are feeling it!

2) You can only achieve that which you believe! When I look at all my 'good' races, I can tell you I could not even come close to achieving them on a training run. Of course, you don't have to, that is why it is called training ... it is only to get you ready for race day, not be an exact measurement of what you are capable of.

3) The key is to go out conservative, the race starts at Mile 20 ... all your benchmarks say you will finish strong ... if you start conservative!

Most importantly though, you gotta believe ... you definitely got it!

Looks like Tom and JG have this one covered! Nice run - keep those miles coming for a few more weeks and you'll be ready.

I agree... not much to add. You will be just fine...."believe"
