Endure and persist; this pain will turn to your good. - Ovid

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. - Romans 5:1-5

Acquired a head cold yesterday, so I used the opportunity to take a day off. I may run tomorrow, but maybe not.

Head cold is getting better, but I'll take today off for good measure. Very unmotivated to run right now.

Medium workout, 11.5 miles with about 5 miles of light tempo. It was cold, and the air was nasty. It's hard to get motivated; I don't know how I'll be in any kind of shape for Boston. Ran 5:46, 5:49, 5:51, 5:50, 5:52 for the tempo portion. Did some strides on the cooldown. 6:26/mile average for the whole run.

Ran up Smithfield Canyon at a brisk pace. Then did 4x1-mile on the way down, with 1-minute rest. Kind of cruised them, used the downhill, and just used the workout to give the legs an idea of turnover. An "intro to running fast", perhaps. Maybe next week I'll try "intro to running hard". Mile splits were 5:10, 5:08, 5:10, 5:40. On the last mile, the road got very snowy and uphill, so I kind of bagged it. 13.75 miles total.
