This morning was the Utah County Championships. When I arrived to the meet and checked in, I met up with my 4x100 team which consisted of Vuong, Richard and Brandon but Brandon and Richard weren't here and are not coming.... Vuong and I were totally pissed! So we got two of the alternates in and worked on hand offs! I did a half mile warm up with Vuong then some strides so I got about a .75 warm up for the 4x100. I then changed into my spikes and did some hand offs with Vuong in my spikes. We raced that. Our first runner got us into last place then out second runner brought us up to fifth place, when I got the baton I thought we were disqualified because I thought I received it outside the arrows but I found out I was like 1 inch inside the arrow. But I started to pass people because we were in lane 1 and when I passed the baton to Vuong I got us into first place and then we won that! I ran about a 12.3 in the 100 and Tolbert was ECSTATIC with me! My next event was the 800. I won this race last year. I wasn't planning on running the 4x400 after the 800 but Tolbert wanted me to run the 4x400 instead so I didn't run the 800. So after the 4x100 I did a half mile cooldown. Waited for the 800 and did a mile warm up then found out I wasn't racing so I did 5 strides then .75 cooldown. Then finally for the 4x400 we decided to change the order because Richard and Brandon wasn't here. We ran with Josh and Alex who are 15 and 14 but are pretty good runners! For the 4x400 I did a half mile warm up then about .25 of a mile of strides and hand offs to Josh because this was his first relay. I went first, then Josh, to Alex then finishing with Vuong. I lined up in lane 5 because there was only 5 teams in this race. I started out fast and hit the far end in first place, coming around the second turn I was still in first then I was the timer hit 40, 41 seconds at the 300 so I kicked it in and ran a 55.91 in my split! I got the baton to Josh in first place by about 40 meters! Then Josh extended it by 10 more meters then Alex held the lead and Vuong extended it to about 75 meters on the second team! We won that event also!
Today at the meet I went undefeated but I still feel sad that I didn't run the 800! I cooled down a mile waiting for awards! |
