Morning run, sunny, temp 45'

I ran 5 miles at 8 minute pace before the race.  Surprising everything felt good.

Unlike last couple of years of the stake race there was no real competition.  My competition became beating Tom's 5K tempo run in 19:50 he ran earlier this week.  After 2 miles I was just ahead of that pace but then I picked it up the last mile and ran a 6:00 even final mile.  Yeah!  I ran faster than Tom.  I did have an unfair advantage of being in a race compared to a tempo run.

5K Time 19:15

Also Dallas ran a 25:25

Nice bragging rights. Hope the stake president didn't take notice. You'll be his secretary in no time.

Great race! Enjoy the moment in running faster than Tom.

Nice job old boy. I hope your quads and bum-itis were kind to you over the weekend!

I decided to do another 5K Saturday as well but all I could muster was an identical time as on Tuesday. I will note however that I had run 10 miles at 7:55 pace beforehand and we had a very nasty canyon headwind for the 1st half of the race.

How about tomorrow or Wednesday we both do another 10K tempo run and see how it goes?

Well done.

Burt, I was the Stk Athletic director and the one that started our Stake running 5K's. I thought I was laying low enough but they called me as the 2nd C. in the Bishopric. You're never safe.

Tom, I may try another tempo run Wednesday. We'll see how it goes.

A good place to hide out is 2nd counselor in the stake Sunday School presidency. Just a little heads up.
