Morning run, temp. 32'

Dallas and the cross country team was doing a 12 hour relay run around the track to raise money for the team.  Each team member ran a mile.  Dallas was the 4th runner.  They started at 6AM with the football stadium lights on.  Nice.  The track had about 2 inches of snow on it.  Since I drove Dallas and a couple other runners down to the track I decided I'd just get my morning run in at the track.  I started a couple of laps before the team did.  I got 2.5 miles in and then I quit running a couple of minutes before it was Dallas's turn so I could run with him.  Dallas took off pretty fast with a 78 second 1st lap and I thought that it was going to be tough to hang with him but then he let up a little and I new I could stay with him at that pace.  I passed him with 300 yards to go and he let me go without a fight.  Where is the eye of the tiger in that boy?  I ran a 5:40 and he probably got a 5:45.  The snow definately was a pain.

Time 43.48,  Mile avg. - 7:18

I played two hand touch football with the ward on the snow.  It was fun but unfortunately the YM's Pres. broke his leg.  Now that's two years in a row one of the men of the ward has broken a leg.

That touch football is pretty rough on us old guys. Glad you weren't the one to get the busted leg.

Seems like you don't find too many teenagers with the eye of the tiger quite yet when it comes to running. I've offered big $$ prize to any of my kids who can beat in any race longer than a mile but so far none of them have even considered it for a second.
