Complete in a Ironman 70.3 in 2017, and if all goes well an Ironman in 2018 Long-Term Running Goals: - Run at least two marathons every year
- Run the 6 Majors (Chicago, New York, Boston, Berlin, London, Tokyo)
- Inspire and encourage family/friends and run marathon(s) with them
Personal: I am a 34 year old male from Chicago, Illinois. I graduated from the University of Colorado in May 2006 and started running in the spring of 2007. Since then I have gone from a max of about 220 pounds to my current weight of roughly 175 lbs, and more importantly have developed a true joy and passion for running.

Post MRI doctor's visit today. Stress reaction/bone inflammation = ordered 6 weeks rest. Pretty much exactly what I was expecting to hear. Major bummer. In hindsight I didn't handle the injury very well at all, should have just rested upon the first signs of a problem. Considering Berlin is in 7 weeks, I will not be running. Chicago on 10/9 is not looking promising either. Big disappointment, needless to say. I guess all I can do is keep a positive attitude and recognize that there will always be another marathon to run. Perhaps in January to qualify for Boston? In the meantime, for the next 6 weeks, swimming and riding the stationary bike (along with PT for my hips/flexibility, etc.) with have to be my means of exercise. Also, 3 x 25 laps (freestyle) in the swimming pool at the Decatur YMCA. About 45 minutes total swimming time. |
