so i wrote this up a couple days ago about monday's run.  today's was similar, if not a bit wetter/cooler:

there's something about this time of year; at least there is for me.

i might not always be in peak racing shape around Christmas time, but i'm typically coming back from whatever fall event knocked me out for a bit.
(and this year's was a doozy. so was last year's, come to think of it, but in entirely different ways)

this quasi-fit state allows me to stretch my legs out to a degree not achieved in several months, lets me concentrate more on enjoying the run rather than willing myself through it.

couple this with the ubiquitously fickle weather of the South, which occasionally grants us a nice day, and the perfect conditions are met.

sunny. 50 degrees F. calm.

it's days like today that keep me in the sport.  flying through town in shorts and a plain, white, cotton t-shirt, i feel my love affair with running coming back, and i almost feel guilty at how much i'm enjoying myself.

i hope you all have days like this, runs like this, memories like this.
