Treadmill run at the Y, it stays dark for awhile here in the a.m. and it's harder to get motivated for that, so I'm probably looking at a few more months inside. It's hard to get a pace going for the first mile on that machine for some reason, but once I get locked in (and watching NBA highlights) it isn't too bad. Did an 8-minute mile or so and then a few more at 7:41. Legs feel alright on there so far, so it's an alright start to the week. Just under 32 minutes.

Four on the treadmill, ran the first mile well above 8 minutes because I was talking to somebody. Then I moved the pace down, finished just north of 32 minutes. My right hip is still a little tight/sore/bothersome. Nothing serious, I don't think, just the muscle seems to tighten up easily and somewhat often. I'm still convinced it's just something residual from the marathon, solved by stretching and running slow miles more often.

Four on the treadmill at the Y, not very good sports highlights today. My hip felt better, it's loosened up a bit. Back outside tomorrow, which will be a good break away from the machine. Stayed at 8 min. pace today, just felt ok there. 32:40.

Back from a stretch of the winter blahs last week. I didn't intend to take that much time off, but just kind of got in a rut and all of a sudden was falling out of shape. Snow's on the ground and it's cold now, so I went to the Y. I just did 3 miles at 8:30 pace, easing back into it (though I didn't feel like I could have run a lot faster). I could feel the layoff, sluggish and my heart rate is definitely up. It'll take a bit to regain the fitness lost. But hopefully I can get back into a winter routine and start to set some goals for next year, it felt really good to run again. 25:45

Again at the Y -- it is freeeezing outside, especially for the winter namby-pambies up here. In Utah I could take running outside when it's 30, but my blood has warmed here (it is dark for more of the morning though, so I still hold that excuse). It's cold and clear with some white on the ground, reminds me of Cache Valley right now. But anyway, I went back to the treadmill. Felt much better than yesterday, my legs, heart and lungs needed to be reminded what running is. Still nothing fast, started at 8:30 and worked down to 7:53 miles, and not too long. A success compared to yesterday (or all of last week). 29:00.

Nasty few days here, the snow hit Wednesday night, that and icy streets shut me down and I couldn't get to the Y either (they closed). Plus work is extra busy with this going on (because some people can't get in), and that adds to the day. Today it's a little better, but I can't get my car out because I live on a 45-degree ice hockey rink. Mail doesn't even get delivered on my street. And it just started snowing again. I have been walking 4 miles a day to and from work and the store, so I guess my legs have been exercised some. Today's treadmill run was great though, 2 miles at 8 min. pace and 3 at 7:30. The faster miles were more enjoyable, really comfortable and effortless. Hopefully we don't get dumped on again tonight, and the rain can come wash this away. I'm such a winter pansy now. 38:30.

The snow has cleared out and life is starting to settle down again. I took today and tomorrow off, so I should be able to run a few times this week. Easy three miles, 8 minute pace, at the Y this morning. 24:14.

Over in Seattle for the day, and my brother and I went out to the Burke-Gilman Trail. Haven't run there in awhile. It was cloudy and drizzling, we went out a little more than two miles and turned back, ran to the market and bought soup and walked home. Pretty easy pace, Timm doesn't get many miles in way up on the tundra. 35:25
