Personal:

Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better."  Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

8PM:  Loooooong TM workout. It wasn't raining but it had rained all day and I really didn't want to be out there in it in case it changed its mind.  Took the day off from work and training yesterday.  Been bothered by a horrible cough that I can't seem to totally get rid of.  It was especially bad the night before last.  Luckily, I had some leftover antibiotic that finally kicked in late last night.

Tried some new compression sleeves for my calves.  Didn't notice any difference during the run but they're meant for recovery.  I plan on sleeping in them tonight and hopefully I'll notice a difference in the morning.

Not running outside yesterday -- smart. I got caught in the snow/rain and froze myself.

Taking leftover antibiotics -- not so smart.

What's the verdict on the compression socks overnight? My wife's pregnant and I'm thinking of trying hers out.

Well, it's sort of a mixed recommendation. IMO, they haven't really led to a tangible increase in performance but I LOVE the way they feel and the tightness in my calves has been reduced. I guess I should be satisfied with that but I had heard so many comments and reviews about how they were some sort of miracle product in terms of performance that I was probably expecting too much.
