Running Accomplishments:

I've been running for the past 25 years.  I ran my first marathon at age 50 and have run 3 since then.  I run 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons.   I ran the Ogden Marathon in 2006 and finished in 4:35.  I won Thrid Place in my age group.

Three of my daughters and I ran the Ogden Half Marathon.  They did great and I was glad to just finish.  I ran the Riverton 1/2 marathon the end of March and pulled my hamstring and then got bursitis so I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted to.

I have slowed down a lot the past 10 years so my goal now is to keep running slow and steady until I die.  I also ride bikes and am as fast as my daughters.

We have now switched from Marathons to 1/2 marathons and Triathlons.  Last year Leslie and I did the Desert Sharks Triathlon and Daybreak.  I won first in my age group in both because there are not many people in my age group.

2010  Riverton Half Marathon 3rd in age group

Daybreak Triahtlon 2010 1st in age group

South Jordan Half Marathon 2010 1st in my age group

Riverton 10K 2010 1st in my age group

Vikingman Triathlon September 10 2010  Won 1st in my age because I was the only one in my age group

March 2011 Riverton 1/2 Marathon 1st in my age group and there were actually 6 people in my age group.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My daughters and I are starting to train for Triathlons, but would still like to run 2 half-marathons and 5K's and 10K's

2010

Riverton 1/2 Marathon  3rd in age

Daybreak Triathlon 1st in age

Riverton 10K

Hobblecreek 1/2 Marathon

Vikingman Triathlon

MS 100 Mile Bike ride finished in 7 hours

2016

August 25 Triathamom with my daugter Christine

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running, biking, swimming and stay fit until I'm 100 years old

Personal:

I'm married, have 8 kids (7 daughters and one son) and 28 grandkids. I have a great supportive husband.  The grandsons and grand daughters are now tied at 14.  I have 2 grand daughters married and one going on a mission to Australia.

Leslie and I went to our Triathlon this morning at Daybreak.   We got there at 6am and got our computer chips and set up our transition area.  Then we had to wait until 8 am for the buses to transport us to the East Lake pool for the swim.  It took about 45 minutes for us to do our swim after waiting for the Olympic swimmers to start and starting in the middle of the Sprint swimmers.  The swim was only 75 meters so it was very easy.  Then we ran 1 mile back to the transition area.  My foot hurt for about a quarter of a mile and then it felt better.  The bike ride was all up hill on the way up and down hill on the way back.  We rode from Daybreak up the Kennecott Copper Mine entrance.   I was pretty tired by the time I got to Kennecott, but the way back was a breeze.  The transition to the run was hard because my legs felt like rubber.  I had to walk for about 30 seconds.  I was pretty tired but I made it to the end.  Chrissy and her daugher Rachel along with Becca came and cheered us on and took pictures.  We left before the awards.  About an hour after I got home the doorbell rang and Dean Bullock was there.  He stayed for the awards so he picked up mine.  I won 1st in my age and also got a $200 gift certificate to Tio's mexican restaurant for being the oldest women in the race.  Dean won 1st in his age group and so did his two sons.  Leslie beat me by about 5 minutes.  I only saw her during the swim.  It was a lot of fun but I was a little disappointed that we were able to do our first open water swim.  I was very tired at the end, but I would have been way more tired if we had swam 800 meters in the lake.

Nancy--great job, sounds like it was a lot of fun for you and Leslie. I heard about them closing Daybreak lake and wondered what they would do about the triathlon. Too bad you couldn't swim there, but sounds like things worked out.

CONGRATULATIONS for winning 1st in your AG and the $200 GC! WOW! That's impressive! Sounds like you had fun with Leslie! My friends have been trying to talk me into taking a TRI class with them. I really admire you. I am petrified of drowning. YOU DID AWESOME today!
