8 halfway decent miles around Liberty Park with Abby. Chilly, but beautiful, morning.
PM: Went for a 3 mile walk. Started out with Andy but we got to the end of Glenmare St. and he ran into a bunch of boys playing basketball in the street and decided to stay and play.
Semi-annual booknotes post...
So I've been making a serious effort to actually read books lately. Whole books from beginning to end. I used to do this a lot before the internet destroyed my attention span. I've been working to re-build it. So here's what I've been reading.
City of Thieves by David Benioff - a novel about the seige of Leningrad during World War II.
Petty by Warren Zanes - the bio of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, maybe my favorite band. Great book, perfect author.
The Animal Keepers by legendary Wisconsin cross country coach Donn Behnke. Loved the book but it made me feel inadequate.
438 Days by Jonathan Franklin - a riveting true story of a Mexican fisherman who survived 438 days drifting in the Pacific after being caught in a storm and having his motor fail.
Symphony for the City of the Dead by M.T. Anderson - A non-fiction account of the seige of Leningrad focusing on composer Dmitri Shostakovich and the "Leningrad Symphony" he composed in 1942. Just started this one.
