Twelve miles on the treadmill at the gym. Fluctuated between 7 and 7:30 pace most of the way. Was lucky enough to get a treadmill on the end and next to a broken one so I didn't have to make annoying chit chat with anyone or worry about my sweat landing on someone on the treadmill next to me.

Well - someone's a little bah humbuggie today - you normally love splashing sweat on people next to you. The annoying chit-chat I can relate to, but cmon, sweat splashin rocks!

Speaking of sweat... 73 here today, Rob :)

Not all chit chat is annoying, but most is when I'm on the treadmill. Like if I'm running at 5:20 pace, barely avoiding being shot off the back end of the thing, and someone says "wow, you're fast" or "have you ever run a marathon".

Mid 30s here and alternating between snow and rain. Yeah, I'm a little over it, but winter's almost over right?

Rob, I wear long sleeves to contain the sweat flickage. Nice run. Enjoy the holidays.

Rob - I have found that my sweating on the treadmill and surrounding area is a pretty good way to eliminate anyone from trying to use the machine next to me - thus eliminating any chance of chit chat.

Speaking of coming off the back of a treadmill - have you looked at the speed of the guys running on the Woodway treadmill website http://www.woodway.com/performancetreadmills/elg.html They need a spotter!

That's pretty amazing Bret. Do you have one of those? I've never heard of a treadmill that went up to 25 mph.

From Bret on Wed, Dec 22, 2010 at 17:32:27 from 216.234.133.229

No - I do not have one. It would be overkill for me to have one that goes that fast. I used one for my VO2 max testing at my gym. Really nice. The running surface is not a standard belt, but instead individual slats much like a military tank tread.

Rob, You were running when I arrived and still running when I left. I thought you were running a TM marathon. That end treadmill is nice, especially now that the one next to it is broken. There was a Woodway treadmill at the rec center at CAL. It was super smooth and durable. If only I knew it would go 25 mph! :)

Fritz - I didn't run as far as it looked. Too much coffee before the run and I had to keep taking breaks to run to the bathroom!
