Ran the SLTC 10K today and forgot to bring money to the race to register so I had to bandit.

Decided to take advantage of the nice tailwind going out to see if I could run the first 5k faster than I did two weeks ago. Then I jogged back to the finish.

Enjoyed a cup of coffee with Steve Ashbaker after while we talked about training, racing, and getting old.

I finished Seth Davis's big new biography of UCLA basketball coach John Wooden today. I've been a Wooden fan since I was a kid. It was a very compelling read. Wooden was born in 1910 and died in 2010 just a few mnths shy of 100 so the story included the sweep of an entire century. I reccomend it to anyone interested in basketball, coaching, or leadership.

Basically, coffee is the healthiest thing ever. Haha. Nice time trial today!

Nice 5k, Rob!! I didn't know you had forgotten money for the 10k -- I would have spotted you :)

You did what every winter series runner has always wanted to do!

I still say they should just run the 15K as a P2P to the airport.

Thanks for making me feel like I accomplished something meaningful Jake!

Wait, so if you jogged back why didn't I pass you? Oh yeah, cause your fast even when you jog. Forgot about that.

I've been a fan of Wooden for awhile, would love that book.

I'd recommend Bowerman's biography, especially as a runner, but the man coached Olympians and was a Renaissance guy.

Good strategy of not reporting that latter half. I should've thought of that.

I like it. We all should've just rode the tailwind for a fast 5k and called it a day! See, you masters runners have all the wisdom! Nice work Rob. It was good to see you.

That's it, I'm going to forget my money for the 15K. I like the way you think. Now I know why I took 4th instead of 5th.

Geez...

Nice race, Rob. I've always wanted to bandit a race but my "ironclad" ethics keep me from doing it. Of course it is about as harmful as writing in a library book, but I try not to do that either.
