Keep running and racing consistently for as long as I can. Find what is sustainable for me over the long run.

I teach AP European History and other courses at Alta High School. I coached the track and cross country teams at Alta for 16 years.

Rob, you are the guy! I really admire how you continually seek ways to improve what you're doing as a coach. (Your involvement with Jay Johnson is an indicator of that.) The best coaches and teachers do that. When they stagnate, they retire or die, maybe both simultaneously.

Thanks so much Dave/Vis. I'm doing my interview in the next day or two and hopefully I'll have a couple things to say that you might find helpful.Most of what I'm going to try to stress is aimed at new coaches.
I never had good coaching myself in high school or college - at least consistently. I had 3 XC coaches in 4 years of HS and my track coach was never the same person as my XC coach. I was a mediocre runner in college and my coach took little interest in me.
I also lament the fact that I was never an assistant coach to a knowledgeable head coach. So I never had any coaching role models. I've had to learn many things the hard way and I'm still learning.
