Had a fair amount of success as a Masters runner for most of my 40s.

Have fun with running, explore more trails, stay healthy.

Keep running and racing consistently for as long as I can. Find what is sustainable for me over the long run.

I teach AP European History and other courses at Alta High School. I coached the track and cross country teams at Alta for 16 years.

10 miles in 1:15 on the Porter Rockwell trail. Sluggish, probably the heat. Good conversation with some really good kids.

Couple new books I'm excited to read. Barbarian Days: A Surfing Life just won the Pulitzer for biography last week. Also Sebastian Junger has a new book coming out that's on my summer reading list.

An interesting argument in the Junger. I just read the brief snippet but there's similar case with inmates after the leave prison. Very different conditions of course, but I think there's something in the connection in that they go from community formed of extreme circumstances to relative isolation (their routines are more more directly dictated by environment too).

I'll try to remember to add it to my list now that I have a stomach for sitting and reading more than just blog entries again :-)
