Good luck on Saturday. That's one of my favorite races in Utah. That last summit climb was a doozy, though I'm guessing it would seem a bit tamer to me now given the races I've done the past few years. Still a heck of a climb and good race.

Thanks Jon. I've really enjoyed it the last couple years so I decided to give it another shot. I feel like it's a thinking mans race and that I haven't got it quite right. Know what I mean? I'm going to study my splits from last year and figure out where I can make up some time.

The challenge of trail races with big elevation changes, where you can't just set a steady, flat road pace and hold it.
I always lean towards going a tiny bit easier on the uphill and being able to really fly on the downhills, where a little more effort has bigger payoff than on uphills, time-wise. That was the race where several people called me a mountain goat on the downhills.
Best of luck and enjoy it, especially the views from the summits.
