Brief report now...

This race was the story of what could have been. I really felt great early on. Ran mile 2 to 5 in 16:38. Was having no problem. Developed horrible blister on the ball of my right foot, Lost tons of time over the last three miles and actually walked three times.

Still ran faster than last year.1:15:12 is a new PR for me and I suppose you always have to be happy with that. But I know I can run faster. Finished second to Steve Anderson in the Masters. Steve ran high 1:11 and finished 3rd overall. Incredible!

Impressive!!!!

Stupid blister!!!

Now I am wondering what your tempo pace was the other day (you know, the confidential pace that you didn't want Steve to know about -- btw, that was the funninest commentary -- I was loving the trash talk amongst you boys.) I thought you were joking, but now I am really wondering!!!

You are amazingly fast!!!! :) :) :)

A huge congrats!

Great time, sorry about the issues. Hope you had fun, wish I was there to run it with you, sounds like you had perfect weather.

Have a great weekend!

One of the best race preps/fun nights I've ever had. You guys are such a fun family! I think I was fourth, but not really sure, no results posted yet.

Nice race Rob - good job of focusing on the positives of the improvement in your time and knowing that you clearly can go faster. Too bad about the blister. Now go enjoy your spring break with your family!

great race Rob. I am in awe of you and Walter and Steve. and great to meet you finally. I have a couple good blisters too if it helps at all...

Great race, Rob. I hate to hear that about the blister, but you're primed for some fast finishes.

I'm impressed you could stop to walk and still run such a strong time (and PR).

Nice work.

Did you bribe the Tribune photographer? I picked up the paper this morning and there you are on the front page again! I'm going to run by you more often.

From Rob Murphy on Sun, Apr 17, 2011 at 11:28:24 from 24.10.248.6

Actually Steve what I did was I found the Trib photographer before the race and I told him that it was just a quarter mile race and that he needed to be sure to catch the winner as he (me) crossed the finish line.

Still blogging here off my phone..sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Did you check out the whole mess with the womens winner in the marathon? Three different women thought that they had won. The eventual winner (chip time-ridiculous) started the race way back in the pack. None of them had any idea who they were racing against.

Rob, Congrats on your new PR and more to follow hopefully. I will take you up on your call some time but just not now. Hope you understand.

Great run! That's a smokiin fast time!

From dugco on Mon, Apr 18, 2011 at 00:32:26 from 68.35.221.180

Ya know, Rob, as you get a handle on this distance running thing, you will probably have less trouble with blisters. It just comes with experience - you'll get there, chin up!

Second masters and a dang fast time? Nice work, Rob.
